Haven't watched an NFL game in years, but this guy always stuck in my mind as one of the most iconic figures in pro football over the last half century.

RIP, Coach.

He and Pat Summerall always seemed to be assigned to the NY Giants games when I watched with my dad. Madden could make a boring game entertaining. RIP.

My son just texted me about Madden. I was thinking about him just an hour ago, wondering how he was.
A great coach, especially for the Raiders of that era. Plenty of headcases on those teams. ;-)

Best color commentator to sit/stand behind a mic.

Damn! FOX had an excellent documentary on him Saturday: All Madden. I caught only the last 45 minutes, I believe it was 90 minutes in total. Now I wonder when it was filmed because he was seated in front of a big screen, watching the various tributes and then would make comments periodically. I loved when he and Pat Summerall (sp) called games. Really, that was when football was worth watching. No colors, just 'teams', no freaking kneeling. Players had class (some did).

RIP Mr. Madden. You kept my interest in the sport alive.

Sad day. We lost one of the NFL’s greatest coaches today. Prayers up for the Madden family and friends.

One knee equals two feet. I will always remember that as one of my early football lessons. Thanks, John. Rest In Peace.
