A new adaptation of Jules Verne classic Around The World In 80 Days has been dismissed as 'woke nonsense' by furious BBC license payers.
The eight-part adaptation starring David Tennant as globetrotting Phileas Fogg launched on Boxing Day, but a series of socially conscious tweaks to the legendary tale left viewers choking on their turkey sandwiches.
Two notable departures from Verne's original 1872 text sees Passepartout, Fogg's loyal valet, played by a black actor - French star Ibrahim Koma - while Detective Fix also gets a modern-day makeover.

It is all they know. Hollyweird died decades ago. At least 2000/05. Probably earlier.
Will the princess be a transvestite?
Will Tatoo be a BLM supporter?
Will the elephants be homosexual?
Destroying the classics is a fundamental part of the Communist Manifesto, at least in principal.
“Burn it all down, man!”
“The original series can’t be touched.”
Absolutely correct!
I’ll definitely pass as well. I won’t watch the original series sullied.
I’ve seen women and blacks added to old movies in small parts but the MAIN CHARACTERS were as the author wrote them.
No longer. Anyone seen the new remakes of the “woke” Ben Hur or The Magnificent Seven?
They hit the theaters and disappeared so fast they did not even leave a shadow non the screen.
“Carter will probably be a dyke lesbian and Daniel(le) Jackson will a transgender female. I’ll let others decide what the rest of the cast will be.”
I won’t even bother guessing.
Bound to be at least one tranny and one homo in the group.
The evil villains will be white males of a conservative bent.
Well, the 1956 version did have CANTINFLAS in it.
Nellie Bly did her trip ( suggested by the editor of her paper...NOT her idea! ) in 1888 and did it in 72 days. Please check facts before you post drivel.
You are half right
But the next one he will surely also be gay
Except for Captain Marvel, which is a bona-fide hit and is one of the best Marvel movies among the Marvel universe.
I remember that old song!
Maybe one day, Fantastic Four the musical.

I’d probably see it.
**when he interviewed a cast member of The Wiz**
I’ve read about, and seen excerpts, of the Broadway show THE WIZ. It was Great!
Then they decided to make it into a movie and (can’t say it here) by putting adults in child roles, pimps and “Hos”, just the thing blacks were used to seeing in their ghettos.
It was unwatchable. Even black audiences refused to go see that piece of dreck.
Siskel and Ebert said it was the last of the Blacksploitation movies produced by whites.
But if you will remember, the ORIGINAL THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939) bombed at the box office. It took till 1956 for MGM to recover from that one.
When the movie RETURN TO OZ was made by Disney, was released, Joel Siegel went on TV and actually shed tears that they had tried to upstage the “greatest movie ever made!”
The topper for me was the new British telling of the Anne Boleyn story, where both King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn are black.
I guess because I am white and these historical figures were white, we are not allowed to cry cultural appropriation!
This is not a work of fiction. This is an historical event with historical figures, who have had oil paintings made of them when they were living. They were not black!
I have wondered about this myself, many times.
I recently signed up for BritBox streaming service. Mostly because I have always liked British murder mysteries.
I love Shetland; but, I have tuned into a couple of other "original" Britbox shows and everyone is "gay". One was a couple of gay guys, the other a lesbian. Actress also played a lesbian in Game of Thrones.
I'm beginning to think that if I don't watch something where the main characters are gay, I won't have anything to watch at all.
Well, Hubby and I went down Memory Lane with The Duchess of Duke Street"
It's been that way for several decades with any hollywood production.
“It’s been that way for several decades with any hollywood production.”
Yeah but now they’ve shifted into overdrive and slammed the go pedal to the floor.
The original series can’t be touched.

I liked the original Stargate SG-1 as well as the Stargate Atlantis series that followed, but the Stargate Atlantis ended in 2009, well before the onset of terminal woke-ness.
I was a big fan of Star Trek and enjoyed the various spin-off series, many of which were superbly scripted and acted. However, based on reviews I’ve read, I have zero interest in Star Trek Discovery. The show apparently went full-on Mary Sue, much like the last few Star Wars movies.
