Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a good evening. This is, I think, the tenth edition of the annual thread dedicated to those among us who, for whatever reason, find ourselves solo on the night before Christmas.
Here in my cozy habitat, it's just me, my faithful hound and, a little later, Ralphie Parker and then George Bailey will make his yearly appearance.
The presents are wrapped and under the tree. After dinner, I'll imbibe a latte and then maybe a little vino.
Anyone else solo tonight?
Virago. Thanks for the new word. I have known a few of them.
Thank you. The tears won’t stop. It’s been 4 months.
My condolences. So sorry to hear about your mother and brother.
I’m so sorry. This will be my 61st consecutive Christmas with mom and I can’t imagine it any other way. I hope you find joy in this empty time.
Condolences.
That was me two years ago. Better days are ahead. Have a safe and Merry Christmas.
Hope everyone on FR has a Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Over 3 years now.
God Jesous the Messiah and you. Watch and get ready for miracles.
Yep. First Christmas in Florida, away from family.
Oh man. I’m so sorry.
A dear coworker just lost her husband and I’ve been praying God will get her through this first Christmas without him. I’ll add you to those prayers.
Just hubby and me here for our first Christmas back home in Texas.
For me there’s nothing like the peace of Christmas Eve.
Just for fun I’ll be going outside in a little while to watch the sky for Rudolph’s nose, just like I used to do when I was a little girl and we were leaving Grandma and Grampa’s house to go to midnight mass.
Over the years I’ve found that if you look hard enough you can’t miss it.
;-)
Merry Christmas, dear FReepers!
Merry Christmas, bagster!
:-)
10 kids… so no.
Yup just me and my birdies.
The last Christmas I had to work was in 2002. I was a Correctional Sergeant, and had actually gotten the day off because of seniority, but then they turned around, and scheduled me to work the midnight shift that night, so I told them to give the day to someone else. I worked 16 hours straight (3-11 and 11-7), and vowed it would be the last Christmas I would ever work for New York State, and it was.
Who are the presents wrapped for ?
ping a ling
(even on Christmas Eve 🙄)
Merry Christmas
🎄🎄🎄
I dread the day I’ll lose my mother, I’m sure she’s with you even now and would want you to chin up and find happiness in her physical absence. Why don’t you watch a pleasant Christmas film. :)

As for being alone, here it’s some calm before all tuck into midnight supper. My wife’s labor of love. On my own at Christmas many years. Since married those years have been outnumbered in far greater measure.
