NEW YORK (AP) — Omicron has raced ahead of other variants and is now the dominant version of the coronavirus in the U.S., accounting for 73% of new infections last week, federal health officials said Monday.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention numbers showed nearly a six-fold increase in omicron’s share of infections in only one week.
In much of the country, it’s even higher. Omicron is responsible for an estimated 90% or more of new infections in the New York area, the Southeast, the industrial Midwest and the Pacific Northwest. The national rate suggests that more than 650,000 omicron infections occurred in the U.S. last week....
...CDC’s estimates are based on thousands of coronavirus specimens collected each week through university and commercial laboratories and state and local health departments. Scientists analyze their genetic sequences to determine which versions of the COVID-19 viruses are most abundant.
On Monday, the CDC revised its estimate for omicron cases for the week that ended Dec. 11, after analyzing more samples. About 13% of the cases that week were from omicron, not the 3% previously reported. The week before, omicron accounted for just 0.4% of cases.

Wanna stop this melodrama? Lift the government ban on Ivermectin and get Merck to crank out a few hundred million of their Ivermectin tablets that have been prescribed to millions since 1981.
Look at Florida and Texas deaths last two months. It ain’t the vaxxed
85% deaths in Texas are unvaxxed. unless you think Abbot and co. Is making that up.
testing seems pointless given the factors contingent on it. my approach was react to symptoms, but then again I never considered MAB’s.
as soon as I had a fever over 100 (and some muscle pains that were unique for me), I started ivermectin (only .2mg/kg human pills, didn’t actually have enough for anything higher for 5 day course) with those pains I knew had to be either the virus or the flu. already was taking quercetin/zinc/C/d3. within 48 hours, was up and about but a bit tired.
I didn’t lose bulk of sense of taste for another few days. I have had some taste changes with colds in the past, but this was more as if it simply turned most tastes off.
Read Kennedy’s book about Fauci and you will never believe a word from any governmental health agency ever again.
Don’t know if it makes them more susceptible but there should be zero expectation that it will protect against omicron.
if omicron becomes dominant strain that is good news due to its lower level of severity. Delta is much more serious.
Based on the South African data, I tend to believe it. The “Hand of Providence” is spreading the natural actual vax kind of like cowpox protected milk maids from smallpox and started the field of immunology. A Christmas present for humanity, so to speak. 22 proteins not mutated out of 24 inducing natural immunity to all variants in those that do not have it. Only the spike has major mutations (30 some odd mutations). You know, the clot inducing spike which is a bioweapon has mutated down in virulence.
In South Africa the spread curve was near vertical. Even look in the direction of someone with it and you got it, and most asymptotically. Cold symptoms in those who were symptomatic. A minuscule number were hospitalized, and those who were, were in 2 or 3 days, not the 8+ days of previous variants. It swept through Gauteng like a tidal wave but was ankle high and is now receding. Sweeping similarly through the rest of SA as we speak. Feet get wet but nobody is drowning.
I pray that I am right and this is the end of COVID as a severe disease, and the start of it taking its place beside the common cold.
How many dead are fake causes?
Those institutions were politicized at least 30 years ago, but most of us didn’t realize it. They’re like the media.
Never stated I trusted it, just that’s what was being stated. I also stated that if you were going to be cynical in the extreme you probably wouldn’t believe anything in print. I did not pass judgement one way or the other, nor did I infer it (at least not intentionally).
You challenged people to name what test was being used to identify the different strains, I posted an answer.
I personally believe that there has been and continues to be heavy politicization of the pandemic, which has brought with it a lot of misinformation from the very organizations and structures we should be able to trust to protect public health. Those same institutions are driving a narrative along with the vast majority of the media and government - a narrative that seems pernicious and in a lot of ways vindictive. So, no, I don’t believe a lot of what I hear from almost any news source or the CDC/WHO, etc.
You seem to be taking my responses personally, which is your choice. Perhaps you might want to examine why that is...
WRONG. It's right on the insert and on the label and this is the exact reason it was approved..."For the prevention of COVID 19"
“WRONG. It’s right on the insert and on the label and this is the exact reason it was approved...”For the prevention of COVID 19””
Yes it prevents covid 19 but not always. Just as a flu shot does not mean you will still not get the flu.
We are dealing with a contagion that is rapidly changing.
There are no rules with covid.
I trust the scientist.
All of 'em.
Trust, but Verify.
Blind trust is very dangerous to your liberty and health.
This is great news! Since the “vaccines” do not provide immunity and because natural immunity (assuming the “vaccines” haven’t caused irreparable damage to the needle-recipient’s immune system) will protect a person far better than the “vaccines” ever will from the Fauci Flu, the weak omicron variant may very well end this thing ... although the tyranny will likely persist until forcibly removed.
