Last but not least, should the inclusion of Prevotella bacteria in COVID-19 turn out to be accurate, prebiotics, probiotics and sporebiotics may be of significant use. A number of studies 12 have shown Bifidobacterium bifidum strain probiotics can help reduce Prevotella, while Lactobacillus strains tend to increase it.

No other field of study is filled with more junk science than nutrition.

My basic nutrition message is not very exciting: eat more vegetables and fruit and keep active.

Where are people ordering NAC from? I’ve seen a few places but don’t know who to trust. We’ve been on an antiviral regiment for two years, but not including NAC. I have a high level of confidence in prophylactic measures.

Where are people ordering NAC from? I’ve seen a few places but don’t know who to trust.

I keep hearing that NAC has been banned by the FDA - but I've seen no evidence. It still seems to be easily available.
I purchase mine from LEF.com (Life Extension), they seem to have a wide breadth of quality products. And there are probably other good sources as well (e.g., Swansons Vitamins, etc)

Saw a Heart Association ad earlier this evening. It was pushing flu shots.

Their closer: Flu shot helps prevent heart attack or stroke.

[They don’t say how that works.]

If you cannot get N-Acetyl Cysteine, you might substitute Cysteine. Cysteine (whether it has an N-Acetyl group on it or not) is an Amino Acid. Not hard to find it.

GNC stopped carrying N-A-Cysteine they said because the FDA said it was being “studied” (BS- NAC is a major component of a brand name, non-patented product for inhalation called Muco Myst. N-Acetyl Cysteine acts to thin out phlegm in the lungs, and so is very useful in prevention of the buildup of dead lung lining cells, cells killed by coronavirus. The dead cells provide a nutrient base for airborne bacteria which then causes bacterial pneumonia. Keeping the normal phlegm thin ie. less thickened allows productive cough and getting rid of the... goo. Even if not infected thinning the secretions keeps a healthy lung/oxygen uptake.

This regimen is not the Marik Protocol or other recommended daily regimen—in this posting. There is no Quercitin 600 mg 2x/day bioflavinoid, and no 3 grams a day of Vitamin C divided doses, and it only talks about “optimizing” Vit D3. The Marik Protocol calls for 4000IU/day of Vit. D3 (with or without sunlight exposure like on a beach). Also, sleep- 7 hours of sleep minimum, and also Melatonin to assist that. You can add Lysine (another amino acid) and extra B-Complex (water soluble B-6, B-12/cyanocobalamin, as “B-Complex” single tab).

All preventative- and discussed on many Continuing medical education programs for educational credit.

Not sure if my experience with covid was helped or hurt by my love of lacto- fermented pickle. I make them all the time. And... When I was sick I ate yogurt and fruit smoothies exclusively. Whenever I hear “extract” of anything I usually wait for the snake oil pitch of miraculous healing powers. And your advice is spot on. Eat better.

I’m been happy with their quality. They regularly have sales so don’t buy anything full price unless you have no choice.

Thanks for that added info. Mercola is obviously tuned in to coronaviruses and COVID, but may still be more of a generalist in this article. His article seems to describe general nutrition advice rather than a treatment protocol for COVID.

N-Acetyl Cysteine

N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a metabolite of the sulfur-containing amino acid, Cysteine. Cysteine is found in high protein foods, N-Acetyl Cysteine is not. N-Acetyl Cysteine is produced within the human body. Cysteine plays a role in the sulfation cycle, acting as a sulfur donor in phase II detoxification and as a methyl donor in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. Cysteine also helps synthesize glutathione, one of the body’s most important natural antioxidants and detoxifiers. N-Acetyl-Cysteine is the acetylated form of L-Cysteine.

N-Acetyl Cysteine increases Glutathione Levels
N-Acetyl Cysteine is rapidly metabolized to intracellular glutathione. Glutathione acts as a powerful antioxidant in the body. Glutathione also detoxifies chemicals into less harmful compounds. N-Acetyl Cysteine also protects the body from acetaminophen toxicity and is used in hospitals for patients with acetaminophen poisoning. It has also been shown to be effective at treating liver failure from other causes as well.

N-Acetyl Cysteine Chelates Heavy Metals
Heavy metals like lead, mercury and arsenic are detoxified and removed from the body by N-Acetyl Cysteine . It also increases the excretion of zinc and other essential minerals when taken over an extended period. Typical dosage recommendations are in the range of 250-1500mg of NAC daily for the majority of therapeutic benefits.

At high doses, it actually acts as an antiviral drug, actively inactivating viruses. Vitamin C also works synergistically with quercetin.

Quercetin — Quercetin is the most abundant dietary flavonoid, found enriched in cranberry, onions, blueberry, apples, and tea. As a polyphenol compound, it is ALSO considered a potent iron chelator. A powerful immune booster and broad-spectrum antiviral, quercetin was initially found to provide broad-spectrum protection against SARS coronavirus in the aftermath of the 2003 SARS epidemic,14,15,16 and evidence suggests it may be useful for the prevention and treatment of SARS-CoV-2 as well. Not only that but quercetin also acts as an ionophore for zinc similar to hydroxychloroquine, in a matter of speaking it will unlock the cells to let the zinc in where it can attack the virus . It is also a good pain killer and better for the human body than Aspirin, what helps to subdue arthritis pain. I is good for sinus infection, in other words if you happen to have a runny nose. Past studies have also shown that quercetin showed potent ability against some viruses, such as enterovirus, Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), and the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV).

B vitamins — B vitamins can also influence several COVID-19-specific disease processes, including17 viral replication and invasion, cytokine storm induction, adaptive immunity and hypercoagulability.

LYSINE
When lysine blocks enzymes it inhibits the spread of the virus in the body by limiting the effect of weakening this connective tissue. An adult may take 2-3000 mg per day of lysine while trying to beat a virus.

SUGGESTED DOSAGE

All components as suggested are individually obtained and freely available and if used with some common sense are not harmful and if anything beneficial to your health. However it is a good idea and highly recommended to read up on each component, as there is plenty of information available on the internet. You may be surprised to find out and learn about the many benefits they provide to your health.
Here is a suggested approximate dosage for each.

Vitamin D-3 1500 IU

Malatonine 3mg to 6mg suggested about one hour before you go to sleep.

QUERCETIN 500 mg to 1000 mg

NAC 500 mg to 1000 mg (N-Acetyl-Cysteine)

Zinc 50 mg

Vitamin C 1500 mg or MORE !! but always should be to two three times as much as NAC

1500 mg to 3000mg

Vitamin B complex

So far whoever has been taking this regime of supplements and may have had a brush with this virus, shook it off fairly easily and quickly and the most important thing was that in the process such a person also acquired natural immunity. Not only that but at the same time this regime also helps to ease the effects of the regular flu.

Good post.
I have been on that same vitamin regimen since April 2020 along with approx 25 friends/family members. All of us socially active...restaurants, church, weddings, travel, etc. In other words, we’ve not changed our lives the past year. Not a one of us has tested positive and not a one has even had a cold. I’ve added hydroxychloroquine 200mg each Sunday starting about 6 mos ago.

Excellent regimen. Pretty much what I’ve been doing. I have been taking 5000 iu of Vit D3 per day for years and have never been sick (thank you Lord). With the China Virus, I upped it to 10,000 iu. I think zinc and quercetin are the most important.

Been on similar regimens since August of 2020. Attended parties public events even a professional football game. Oh, and I fall in the high-risk category.
Also posted recently about hearing friends and associates who’ve taken the jab complain about the after effects.
Also note that my position would not recommend that I take this experimental vaccine.

My mom had a small stroke about 4 months ago neither of us vaccinated I had to take her to emergency and was worried because hospitals are an absolute petrie dish of germs we both spent 4 days in the hospital no masks in room AND we both came home just fine this supplement regimen works!!!
