Just out of curiosity what percentage of the time will it be looking at earth? I suppose that’s Top Secret.
I would feel better about the launch if SpaceX was handling it. I hope it makes it to station without incident.
This project cost $10 billion in borrowed money. I must mention the “borrowed” part because we are a debtor nation. By some calculations, 40% of the money the federal government spends is borrowed.
I get that the government spends money on worse programs. And I am a science guy by profession. But I must wonder if this project is worth the cost.
Next up, the Webb Hubbell space telescope.
60 minutes had a segment on this last night. Just imagine the horror if something goes awry during the launch!
Question: If light and/or energy came into being at a singluar big bang, why would it not all be the same age?
Lemme guess - Harbor Freight floor jacks used in the unfolding mechanism?
I can’t wait for the Webb to launch and start sending us data.
It will be a treasure-trove of information that will lead us to actual treasures worth more than all the wealth currently on Earth. The propagation of Mankind into the Heavens!
But that’s just the optimist in me speaking.
Not to be pessimistic but something that complex with so many fingers on it is bound to get screwed up. Nasa is too woke to pull it off...wrong priorities.
.
Psst, check the mirrors this time.
Lets hope that NASA built this telescope well so that it works right from the launch and parking positioon because if it fails to work right there will be No way to service it.
We don’t need another issue where Nasa Built the Hubble Telescope and upon activation the the telescopes mirror was found to be ground incorrectly. So the telescope couldn’t see anything clearly.
But as fun as that would be, we need you here! How else will our oversupply of periods get equalized? Please reconsider...........................
I’ve long given up the thought of this thing ever making it to orbit.
