Director Steven Spielberg’s woke West Side Story remake is a box office catastrophe expected to open in the $10 million range.
How awful is that? Well, do you remember that previous woke catastrophe, In the Heights? It opened to $11.5 million.
West Side Story is projected to bomb harder than In the Heights, lol.
Even so, the In the Heights’ production budget was only $55 million.

Yes, although their virtues are false ones. Not Biblical virtues, but man-made ones that God has no use for. And they use them like a club, telling themselves they are pious while calling everyone else bad people.

The live [black] Annie wasn’t much of success, either. It pulled in 5.16 million viewers — low compared to previous live TV musicals.
Classics are classics for a reason, and remakes is not one of them — especially not woke remakes.
Cedric the entertainer’s movie rendition of Ralph Kramden in the Honeymooners remake was another box-office disaster.
Maybe these make for good tax write-off loses.

Why can’t Hollywood come up with anything that is new? Everything is a cheap copy of great works many decades old, or extensions of comic book franchises, also created many decades ago?
They ran out of ideas a long time ago. Just look at many of the dramatic TV series: they have similar plot lines. Over time, long-running shows resort to renditions of previous episode plots.
Hollow-wood has been doing this for many decades. Movies a half-century ago just changed the names and costumes, but the plots were nearly identical.

Hollyweird still occasionally comes out with something good, such as San Andreas from about 5 years ago. In that one, the men were almost all alpha males, including the nerdy seismologist. They were all out there doing valorous, heroic things and protecting and rescuing the women and other people in need. I'm sure that the critics panned the hell out of it.

What’s the matter with Hollywood these days? Is it the drugs? They’ve become a ridiculous bunch of idiots who think they’re better than everyone else because they care about things that make no sense. There's hope. Now that thugs are looting THEIR STORES like Louis Vuitton and up-scale jewelry stores (rather than our stores like Walgreens) - there's a small possibility some of the 'charm' of black thugs/looters will fade.

They have money to pay for the fences which they will build around their enclaves. They also can afford armed security guards for where the fences don’t work as well. These things will keep threatening people out of their areas unlike border walls and border patrol agents which don’t work at all.

Real Puerto Ricans? Well, that does it; break out the oscars. I haven’t seen it, true, but I also don’t intend to see it. Reason: Who cares? I don’t need one; but that said, I’m familiar enough with spielberg’s past stuff not to trust it. Remakes tend to be crap anyway, and suggest the paucity of originality in that pit.

You ever see 1968’s STAR with Julie Andrews?
It was so bad it was pulled, re-cut and re-released with a new title, ‘”THOSE WERE THE HAPPY TIMES” (Formerly titled STAR)’is what the previews said.

Real Puerto Ricans? Now you know a movie with white actors with darkened faces to represent a different race wouldn't be made today. That's not wokeness or political correctness, it's just living in modern, contemporary times.
And yes Spielberg for all his leftism and possible shady involvement in the death of that Poltergeist actress, has made some excellent movies.
