Not much point putting money is savings account if it’s going to be worth lees when you take it out. Or into bonds for that matter. So where is the money going, well into assets through stocks and some into gold, siver, and lead(the kind in a cartridge) Ammo is going to become the currency of convenience in the coming barter economy.

Think I’ll start investing in canned goods.

Remember to stack them by exp. date, and do rotation so as to consume the older stuff before it goes bad.

I saw this posted on a local blog by someone who is not an economist just over 70:

“I assume given the early Friday deadline, you could not mention the appalling inflation rate, year over year, 6.8%. President Brandon has only been in office for about 10 months and the rate of increase in the rate of inflation has been increasing. Month over month the rate was .8% which is about 10% annualized. IOW with Brandon at the controls the nation is headed to becoming the Wiemar republic fiscally. My advice, buy a wheelbarrow so you can have enough money to pay for your next loaf of bread. Or I guess Brandon can order the engraving and printing people begin making $1 million dollar bills.

This cannot continue. If not today, soon the interest rates MUST begin to ratchet up across the board. Anyone who was buying a home around 1980 when the now second worse president, Carter, was around, will recall interest rates beginning at 13% for a mortgage. Housing plummeted.

Next up, the dollar being the reserve currency of the world could be replaced. That would be a disaster for our standard of living. Today the white house actually said: because of the high inflation, the Congress must pass the $2T spending bill pronto.

Do they have a clue what causes runaway inflation?? Supply verses demand theory, Wage driven price expansion, Greshams law, and other economic axioms seem to have no applicability to this administration and the nitwits running the legislative branch. What is next? A war over the Ukraine. Hopefully they get removed before we get to that bad idea.”

IMO, it is not just Brandon. As he says, it is the nitwits running the legislative branch. After friday, if they took that SOB Senator Turkey Neck out and hanged him, I'd be happy. I hate the known enemies but when an alleged ally goes over, that is what I call being a traitor.

The Jan 6th commission is the legislatures attempt to forestall trigger finger recalls. They must really be worried because our side has raised nary a peep about them. From what I see going on in the country as a whole, it is like everyone is grabbing what they can while they can. Kind of like there are only so many life jackets on the Titanic. What they do not know is the jackets will not protect them in 40 degree water.

The redefine inflation started under Clinton to control non- discretionary outlays such as social security. Can you imagine what SS would pay out if they didn’t f___ with inflation? (It was to rob the old folks, they don’t know, and just die off anyway)

Using the 1982 calculation he says it’s the worst ever CPI figure. The previous high was in 1980 @ 13%

Does anyone know when the formula was changed?

The federal reserve has about a 4% inflation built into it. The 20% rate was to combat inflation brought by the 1970’s, not the 80’s. Bill Clinton upset that figure in the 90’s. Made money cheap. Government then overspent to the tune of over $30 trillion in national debt today. We recently crossed the Rubicon with the need for higher interest rates while being unable to afford them at the same time.

Capitalist greed and price gouging. Elizabeth Warren said so, and she cares about people like me and wouldn’t lie. /s

We haven’t even begun to see inflation. I expect 2000% per day, like Zimbabwe.

Those on fixed incomes are going to be (or rather should i say BEING) hard hit by this

I’d be interested to know if any professional Freepers are talking about wage rises with their bosses ? And if they feel valued right now because there becomes a point where the inflation outstrips pay and that really sucks.

"...this administration and the nitwits running the legislative branch..."

You make it sound as if they don't know what they are doing.
But they know exactly what they are doing.
They are working to subjugate the American people under
a marxist totalitarian system - thereby utterly destroying
everything good about this country - and ripping
individual Liberty out by the roots.

And if the total destruction of this nation is required -
economic, ethical, spiritual, moral - and up to actual physical
obliteration - THAT is what these subhuman scum are
prepared to do. It may actually be their primary objective.

And they are proceeding with their plans quite well.

There may not yet be enough opposition to stop them
either - IMO. And whichever side prevails in this fight,
I predict - sadly - horrific bloodshed.

So be sure to vote early and often!

Are we having a pleasant enough Saturday morning yet?
Are we?

Sure they will hit the brakes before there is hyperinflation like Zimbabwe?

Maybe, maybe not. Hard to tell what they will do

You might laugh Derek but there are practical things you can do.

I’m not hoarding food but I have just bought enough apparel in the sales to last me a while (at current prices! ).

I’m sure other people will have some tips or ideas as well..

They win if they get good people to turn against each other on the government's behalf. They lose if good people stand together and treat government dictates as background noise.

Quislings that enable successful revolutions. Top-down Soros-ism doesn't get anywhere unless rat-like politicians and social activists convince otherwise normal people to betray each other - COVID Karens and BLM White Girls being the most recent examples.

The takeover of corporate HR departments has been the most worrisome change - one can write off the university campuses as irrelevant fantasylands, but when one's paycheck is dependent upon verbalized conformity to Marxist whims it creates tremendous stress on the average individual.
