Active swarm of earthquakes happening this am.
The last major Cascadia quake occurred in early 1700, likely in January. The 421 years ago.

The most recent was at 08:02 this morning.
Current count is 59 quakes in the last two days.
Actually, it’s the Juan de Fuca plate on the move.
The San Andreas fault is trivial compared to the possible and even likely problems resulting from the Juan de Fuca plate.
61 magnitude 4 earthquakes (or higher) the past two days.

Both - up on hill, 1/2 mile from the beach as the crow flies. However, it’ll be like being stranded on an island, surrounded by water, most likely no utilities for a while...At my age though, not too concerned. If it’s my time to go home, that’s OK.

Those plates are always moving!
I likely drove past you then, on a weekend day-off drive from the jobsite in Centralia south to the coast road, then down to the Lewis and Clark museum on the point. Sobering how long, how low, and how isolated the people and small towns are out there.
Not my first book describing the Cascadia Fault’s near-term next earthquake, but Dave Tucker’s Geology Underfoot in Western Washington has a good chapter on the past earthquakes, and the fault line offshore.
Thank yo for the detailed list. My own list only went through 9 quakes.
Problem is, these quakes (now over 68 in just 2 days, most of them over Mag 4) are on the side of the fault. The worst occur on the “front edge” of the moving tectonic plates, which are “fixed” very deep underground, but are now easier and able to move because the sides of the plates are loosened.
