CAR-BUYERS are getting behind the wheel of an electric vehicle (EV) in ever greater numbers. No wonder, for they are exciting and easy to drive, compared with internal combustion engine (ICE) equivalents. As battery costs tumble, prices are falling. But the shift to EVs means much more than driving pleasure. Transport is responsible for around a quarter of the world’s carbon emissions and road vehicles account for around three-quarters of that share. If there is to be any chance of reaching net-zero by 2050, EVs will need to take over, and soon.

Can to substitute Raiders for Chargers?
Climate change will destroy the planet by 2050.
Why bother?
;-)
Have they thought about what they will do when electric cars overload the power grid?
This is a business opportunity.
Gasoline powered generators on flatbeds..................
LOL - “easy to drive” compared to a gas-powered vehicle. In what alternative universe do these people live? In what way is it any “easier” and how hard do these people think it is to drive a gas-powered car?!
Stick shift is a different story - I love the sticker I saw on a car with a manual shift pattern logo and the tagline “Millennial Anti Theft Device Installed”.
Nooo...
“exciting and easy to drive, compared with internal combustion engine (ICE) equivalents”
What the hell does this even mean? It’s nonsensical.
No they haven’t.
I’m really tired of reading drivel on this topic by people who just don’t have a clue of what they’re talking about.
Our grid would melt down if everyone started charging EV’s at the same time. Then there’s the environmental issues with the batteries and that *something* still has to generate the electricity - where nuclear won’t be allowed.
Abject propaganda.
Or when copper thieves go after the chargers?
Millennials can’t drive stick;
The electric car generation won’t be able to drive automatic shift.
Imagine having a manual choke too. Cars have had auto-chokes for decades now . . .
Add to the the generating the electricity needed is impossible in this regulatory environment.
There won’t be shifting.
The Electric Grid cannot support electric vehicles as it is now.
That’s only 350 watts? It must take forever to charge one of those battery powered skateboards.

Also, how does the author believe EV’s are easier and more fun to drive? What makes them easier to drive? Lack of that pesky crank to turn to start the motor? I’ll agree that some EV’s have some fun acceleration, but how fun is it worrying about your next recharge?
I’ll sign up for a Ford Lightning if I knee I could quickly charge it just as easily as topping off the gas tank. Until then... it wouldn’t meet my needs.
As someone else here pointed out, they do not plan on replacing all our cars one for one. They plan on getting rid of all the gasoline cars, and then having a very small number of electrics where you order on demand and get a ride. You won’t own them.
So when we crow about how dumb they are for not building an infrastructure to support all the cars we will need, they smile at how dumb WE are and say “yes we are building all you need”.
