Georgia gubernatorial candidate Vernon Jones argues that he’s "the future of the Republican Party."
Jones is a former Democratic state representative who switched to the GOP last year after serving as a leading Black surrogate and supporter in Georgia of former President Trump’s reelection campaign. In April, he launched what pundits consider a long-shot primary challenge against GOP Gov. Brian Kemp.
Jones, who touted that "people know that I have stood strong for Donald Trump and the America First agenda," spoke with Fox News on Monday, hours after former Sen. David Perdue also jumped into the Republican gubernatorial race following months of encouragement by Trump.

Perdue was defeated by the Dem apparatus before in Georgia, this guy is a sworn supporter of Trump’s political positions—so he says.
As much as I love & respect Trump, I think he is backing the wrong horse in this race yet again.
It was likely based on private polling.
Think black men and how physically attractive she is. Those things count.
From afar, seems like they’re trying to get Abrams elected to me!
It will be Vernon or Stacy. Take your pick.
Folks, we either trust Trump to know what he’s doing or we don’t.
I still trust Trump.
I live in GA.. for the first time... I disagree with Trump!
Perdue is old stock... PLEASE don’t bring in old!!
Black Jones can defeat black Stacy Abrams.
Put Perdue in there and who are the blacks voting for? She comes on strong... may she never has a vise on GA..
What does Trump know about Jones that is not evident?
i am voting for Vernon in the primary which is probably an indicator that he will lose and Perdue will win as it seems like the more conservative always loses in Georgia primaries and the establishment candidate wins. Perdue lost to Ossoff a person that has never worked a real job in his life. Perdue is an idiot.
Blind trust isn’t trust at all.
His history of personnel decisions is spotty at best.
Questioning him doesn’t mean going against him.
I think Trump quietly approves and might, in the future, voice that approval.
Seems lately, too many politicians are not being their own person and hoping on the talisman of a Trump approval.
Jones hasn’t rejected Trump out-of-hand but has made a statement that he is confident enough in his position (formed by Trump...) to run and win.
Time will tell.
It’s a long campaign season.
If the people want Stacy. Let them have her. They wanted President Trump out and they got him out. So what the hell? Let the people have who they want!
Unless something comes up.. I am voting for Jones. I’d have to hold my nose and vote Purdue... I just am sick of the old guard... they are stuck in the rut and not going to change.
Perdue may be the right choice.. but the fact he’s been in there for a long time... I rule him out. The old guard is the problem .. and Jones is old guard to the dems... but fresh with Trump.
Maybe Vernon would be better candidate vs ossoff?
I live in Georgia also, I think Brian Kemp has done a godd job, limited riots in Atlanta etc. If Perdue couldn’t beat Ossoff he has no chance of beating Abrams. I am afraid cross over voters will get Perdue the as the candidate. Abrams has a formidable political machine. Stop the cheat in Fulton and Georgia is red again.
My trust isn’t blind.
I’m a vaxx refusenik, for example.
That said, I trust a guy who learns from his mistakes. And say whatever else you want to about Trump, he learns from his mistakes.
I still trust Trump.
But if you don’t, a suggestion.
Find a Donald Dem to run against Abrams in the ‘Rat primary.
Better the state’s chancez of getting a MAGA pol.
Vernon Jones...recent republican convert. If he wins primary I predict he throws the race to Stacy. IMHO that is the master plan.
The primary voters of Georgia will decide, as it should be.
The it is up to them and the rest to get out and vote in record numbers.
Remember when Mitt Romney was ‘the only candidate that could win’ against odumbass?
I called the news several times to remind them that Romneys first name was NOT ‘Frontrunner’
Having a horse race of Perdue versus Jones may excite the voting base.
