I was in third grade. Happy to be a Friday and looking forward to drawing and coloring instead of catechism class after lunch.
First grade and probably drooling over a J.C. Penney Christmas catalog.
3rd grade field trip, got back after lunch, almost missed the friday ice cream day. got back to class room and found out what happen and got sent home
I was 1st grade. Remember it well because my mom went to the hospital after I got home and had to have a gallbladder surgery. I remember someone from the office made an announcement over the intercom. A lot was going on that day.
I was in 3rd grade too.
In the morning I had misbehaved, and for punishment I had to stay in the classroom and eat my lunch and ponder my sins instead of going outside onto the playground. Then, while I was so pondering, in came Sr. Beatrice the principal, and she whispered the sad news to my 3rd grade teacher.
You know how children figure out Cause and Effect: for years afterwards I was convinced that my bad behavior had caused the president’s death.
“I was in the presidential limousine with JFK when the shots were fired.” ~ Brian Williams
Oh yeah. And that shithead LBJ took power.
So did a lot of women. That fact and the Chicago mob got JFK elected...
Oh and memories from my mom.
She was driving around in the two For Fairlane that we had. Significantly for the story is that that car didn’t have a radio (or one that worked). She’s driving around in our little town and notices people acting very strangely. She found out what happened when she stopped and asked hey what’s going on.
I was at a catholic school. They announced it on the PA system. I don’t recall any meltdowns on the part of teachers or students.
I was living in my previous incarnation as a retired Vaudeville showgirl named Edith.
I was in my high school sophomore class. After the intercom message we all said the rosary. I remember staying after school and debating the existence of God with my best friend. I used the hole in my soul argument. She used the why does God let bad things happen argument. She ended up going to Swarthmore so I sought whether she’s still a Catholic.
True. Over on Twitter, the average users PARENTS aren't old enough to remember JFK's assassination.
I was in my Junior year at The Citadel - and the radio station interrupted the song, “Hit the Road, Jack” to make the announcement.
They apologized afterward.
C. S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley also died on November 22, 1963.
I was in 3rd grade when Mrs. Sparks our teacher came in and told us the President had been shot in Dallas......................
6th grade. Remember that Sunday reading the 50-page story on Lee Harvey Oswald when my Dad, who was watching TV, said he just saw Oswald get shot.
I believe Oswald WAS a patsy. They had all that info ready to give to the press within minutes to cement the story in the mind of the public.
I also remember where I was when Malcom X was killed.

I was 5 when JFK was killed. I don’t remember a thing.
But I was 10 when MLK was killed. My older brother came bursting in the house yelling “Martin Luther King’s been killed!”
I’ll never forget that. At that time we were living in the suburbs of DC. We didn’t dare go into the district after that.
I was in the Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43)..We were North of Hawaii returning to the States from a WestPac cruise.
