A Florida man was filmed as he lay on the floor in a Costco for eight minutes in protest after he was told to put on a face mask, as a pair of local sheriffs ask the maskless man to get off the floor and leave the premises.(snip)
'He said he would sue Costco and the police if they touched him,' the original filmer, who asked to remain anonymous, told Newsflare.(snip)
he got up and paid for his stuff at the self check out then the officer escorted him out.'
'Outside the manager was arguing with an officer that they should have not let him pay for his stuff' the person behind the camera added.(snip)

A woman dubbed 'Costco Karen' sat on the floor of the superstore, refusing to move while declaring 'I have constitutional rights!' after she was similarly asked to put on a face mask.(snip)
The woman had a face mask dangling from one ear but refused to put it on completely to cover her mouth.
'You just have to tell me that you have one. Well, then you have to wear it. You have to wear your mask in public. This is private property,' the female employee said in the video posted back on June 30, 2020.
'I am not a member of Costco,' the woman is heard snapping back.
'Want me to get that taken care of for you? Well, then you’re going to have to put your mask on,' the employee says.
'I will not,' the woman says curtly, adding the mask requirement is 'your problem'.
'Well then come back another time,' the employee says.
'I want to speak to your boss,' the outraged woman replies.

No kidding it’s old! We have been free here in Florida pretty much since the first of the year. Haven’t had to wear a mask in many months. Thank you Gov. DeSantis!
Costco is not. See #41.
Going overboard is precisely what makes things change. An equal counter force only maintains the needle at the same position; it’s the stronger counter force that moves the needle. Mao got this when he said that political power comes out of the barrel of a gun. I admit I would’t go as far as the Costco man in the story, but this time last year I was routinely walking into big box stores unmasked, basically daring the manager to do something about it. No one ever did. I’m not a resistance hero, obviously: we all have to pick our battles. But resistance at some level is vital, or they will roll us up like a rug.
Hmm. Costco has an honor system in Florida. Vaccinated people do not need to wear masks. Why is this ancient article being posted unless it is to mislead folks about Costco and Governor DeSantis?
“Disclaimer:I am anti-mask. But more importantly, I am pro-property rights.”
Is that you, Governor Noem?
That’s why people are forced to bake the cake. The idea of private property and enterprise has been destroyed by one side or the other. In a sane world, a business can have whatever standards they want to serve people.
“If the drama queen refuses to make a choice, trespass him and call the cops.
Disclaimer:I am anti-mask. But more importantly, I am pro-property rights.”
Exactly!
“Sometimes property rights have to go to the back of the bus. So to speak. People need to push back, even in ways that make them a PITA.”
I wonder if those that are fine with businesses requiring their workers to be masked and vaccinated would also be fine with requiring all employees to work topless (both men and women).
I assume so, since they are ‘private businesses’ and there’s no law regarding dress codes (beyond food safety related).
“A property owner should be able to set the rules for his business. “
So, there is no limit to businesses? No negros? No whites? No Jews? I bet you think there is a limit.
That’s good to know. About the only people I see wearing masks, aside from some crazed 30 somethings lined up in front of the vegan cupcake shop, are visitors from the northeast or CA. They seem to have forgotten how to breathe freely.
If you karens don’t want to wear masks then don’t go to places which require masks. Simple.
Private company? Can they say no blacks? No fat people?
They aren’t private anymore than any other fascist deal making company.
I’m anti-mask but that said, I know a choice when I encounter it. I wear a mask in Costco. Why? Because the business wants me to. It somehow makes other member shoppers feel more secure. I can choose not to be a member. If they demand a vaccination, I’ll give Costco up.
Regardless of property rights, or any other rights, stupidity should be called out. That’s what the first amendment is all about, which is another conservative value.
We live in a world where the 4 billion on the dumb side of the bell curve have an IQ below 100. Think about that. We share this planet with literally billions of morons.
Unfortunately, even a lot of the reasonably intelligent people are too lazy to think for themselves, so they just follow.
We are aboard a “ship of fools”, and if we just passively accept stupidity because people have a right to be stupid on their own property, then we are at the mercy of fools.
Life isn’t only about rights - that’s the lowest common denominator when settling legal disputes. Not infringing on each other’s rights is great, but it is the bare minimum a human being can aspire to.
I like people who call people out for being stupid - loudly and often. This Covid19 BS has exposed just how contagious stupidity and group-think is.
If you see stupidity, call it out.
Good for you.
I agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly.
I remember, before I left the States, last spring when the mask mandates in my area were gradually lifted, I had this personal policy: if a business had a mask required sign that said "due to government policy, you have to wear a mask" I kept my mask off. If a business simply had a "mask required" sign up, then I either complied with their requirement or found someplace else to go.
It was sort of hit-or-miss at the time. Virginia lifted their mask mandate first, then Central Maryland (Howard & Anne Arundel), then finally PG & Monkey Counties. I can't remember if the District ever lifted theirs or not (usually didn't shop or dine in the District so can't remember).
As to Costco, I remember at the time it was hit-or-miss depending upon the GM of the individual store. The Costco in Columbia MD was hardcore about keeping the masks on unless you wanted to go through the 3rd degree about vaccination, while the Costcos in Ellicott City and Glen Burnie were perfectly fine with whoever going in maskless.
You are SPOT ON with your comment about property rights...if you have a maskless mandate at your home, people can either comply and remove their masks or get off your property. Same deal with a store. If they have a mask mandate (or a mandate to remove masks), either comply or leave. Simple.
i call bs. i live in florida, got to costco regularly and have never been asked to wear a mask. the store is consistently full of unmasked people.
Costco is a private business.
So if I. G. Farben ran the gas chambers at Auschwitz that would have been kosher, too? After all it was a “private business.”
Surrender to violent Marxists and the corporations who support them will not end well. Guaranteed.
Re: 34 - I’m sorry this has to be said, but there are an increasing number of FReepers that don’t believe in private property rights. Conditions on private property that don’t run afoul of the ADA, or Civil Rights Act of 1964, etc will be followed - if some FReepers feel like following the conditions.
These may be some of the same people who would squawk if FedGov or StateGov restricted their private property rights.
Godwin's Law anybody?
That is a garbage example anyway even though it's a blatant violation of Godwin's Law.
IG Farben produced Zyklon-B which was a pesticide. It was invented in the 1920s, long before the Nazis came into power. I would have no problem with IG Farben having a government contract to produce Zyklon B.
The government is the one that perverted its use to get rid of what they deemed human pests.
Did IG Farben know? Yeah, probably. And yes I have a problem with them selling the product if they knew that was the end use.
And if the government outsourced a contract to run the camps to a private business (say, IG Farben Government Services Division), I wouldn't want to patronize them.
But there is one little flaw in their argument:
I would have a CHOICE to patronize Costco, Sam's Club, BJ's, or wherever.
I wouldn't have a CHOICE on which company's death camp to be murdered in.
But feel free to try again with another argument that's not so flawed.
