Explanation: Predawn hours of November 19 found the Moon in partly cloudy skies over Cancun, Mexico. Captured in this telephoto snapshot, the lunar disk is not quite entirely immersed in Earth's dark umbral shadow during a long partial lunar eclipse. The partial eclipse was deep though, deep enough to show the dimmed but reddened light in Earth's shadow. That's a sight often anticipated by fans of total lunar eclipses. Wandering through the constellation Taurus, the eclipsed Moon's dimmer light also made it easier to spot the Pleiades star cluster. The stars of the Seven Sisters share this frame at the upper right, with the almost totally eclipsed Moon.

Nice picture with the Pleadies in there, too!
In Japan, the cluster is called βSubaruβ
Which is U-r-a-bus backwards...
I’d expected to see maybe half or 3/4 of the moon covered, but here in SoCal, there was just a tiny sliver of the left edge that was uncovered - almost a total eclipse. Someone said it was during the reign of Henry VI that this type of eclipse was last seen, although I’m not sure what that means.
Orange moon bad
Someone said the other day it was the longest lunar eclipse in 600 years, which would put it back to Henry VI (reigned 1422-1460 and 1470-71), but I’m not sure how accurate that claim was. It occurred when the moon was near apogee so it was moving more slowly in its orbit causing the eclipse to last longer.
Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. And nuclear bombs.
But, who would want to nuke the moon???
I don't know how many wives Henry VI had, but maybe it means now you can have a few more. Or maybe not.
