Why Sip Eggnog This Holiday Season When You Can Sip … RanchNog? Hidden Valley Ranch is now selling a ‘ranchified’ take on the classic holiday drink.

Eggnog: You either love it or hate it. But as controversial as the holiday drink may be — it’s only a fraction as contentious as ranch dressing, which is way off the love-or-hate chart.

Now the genius marketers at Hidden Valley Ranch — who have previously brought to the world such marvels as Halloween-treat-sized HVR packets and HVR Crocs — have boldly piled controversy upon controversy and seen fit to introduce a Limited Edition Holiday RanchNog Kit.

Yes, a kit to make ranch dressing eggnog is actually a thing you can now buy for $50 at the Hidden Valley Ranch Shop.

“This ranchified take on the iconic, sometimes polarizing drink marries the creamy, slightly sweet elements of eggnog with the savory, cool and herby flavors of ranch to delight superfans and surprise skeptics with how good it actually is,” the brand boasts.

I like ranch dressing but the suggestion of this wants to make me puke. No thank you, I’ll stick to traditional eggnog with a sprinkle of nutmeg.

Yeah, not a big fan of Eggnog. If I still drank, I’d take a Sweetwater IPA (or Sweetwater 420 with seafood). Right now my ‘beer’ favorite is Clausthaler Dry Hopped NA which goes down pretty good after outside work.

Yuck to this but I do like buying the generic version of their spice mix for 1/3 the price of their ripoff.

The dictionary defines it as “a strong ale formerly brewed in Norfolk, England”. Don’t know how eggs ever got involved.

I have a love hate relationship with egg nog. I feel drawn to it but I’m not really all that fond of it. I drink about 6 oz a year. Each nog I wouldn’t drink at gunpoint

Chugalugging salad dressing may become the next campus fad. Don't give the kids any ideas.

If eggnog is enticing, maybe it's the rum. I can't see getting that into ranch dressing.

I’ll drink eggnog from time to time when it’s available, because I like the taste. I’ve never made it myself, and I very seldom put any booze in it. It’s probably just as well that eggnog isn’t sold year round, because the stuff is liquid flab.

Why not drink ranch nog? Because there are just some things you just don’t do. If I want egg nog, I want creamy and eggy goodness with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg — just like Mom used to make. There is no place for ranch there. Ranch is what I put on my salad sometimes. You know how you have eaten something countless times and it always tastes the same way and you like it and then someone comes along and decides to do something weird with it? There’s that moment of confusion and, no matter how “good” the changed item might be, it’s not what you expected. I have eaten country fried steak with cream gravy in diners and truck stops all over the country. One time I got it for lunch at the company cafeteria and the “chefs” decided to put garlic in the cream gravy. No, that doesn’t belong. That’s what ranch nog sounds like to me.

I could go for a chicken fried steak right now drenched in country gravy with some fries!

Always good — without the garlic.

I like garlic but it don’t belong there. Lots of black pepper.

Exactly. Cream gravy and black pepper — a natural combination. Garlic is good for other things.
