No kids.

Never messed with them because my balance is all screwed up.

I’d fall over immediately.

This area is known to have a lot of mentally ill homeless people. I was verbally threatened by one of them several years ago in the same area.

The police really won’t do much except to give them a ride to the city limits.

Oregon’s pretty liberal with knives and walking sticks. There’s this:

Concealed carry of any automatic knife, assisted opening knife, butterfly knife, dirk, dagger, or ice pick is prohibited

The only automatic I ever carried was a Boker Magnum that kinda rattled a screw loose. I need to replace it, Loc-Tite them all, and maybe coat it with a gun finish. It ain’t pretty. The other Bokers sit in a safe. The homeless tend to be bristling with knives. Some of them get around the concealment by carrying a screwdriver. One guy had a six foot staff that he was trying to tie or wire a heavy aluminum skull on top of. I told him how to carve the top and brought him some RTV. That fixed it up good and tight. Another guy had a staff with a sharpened spatula taped to it. He got shot. He lived.

"...Kenosha DA said a skateboard can’t be used as a weapon..."

He, of course, was only referring to Wisconsin skateboards. They're made of cheese.

My favorite fishing hole is in a semi-wild city park. A couple of good-sized lakes, a nearby Wal-Mart, for all of your shoplifting needs, and a homeless advocacy center a few blocks away. Some of the better-behaved homeless try to keep the seriously deranged ones away from the park so they they can sit around in peace and not be rousted every time the cops drive in. I like to fish from a pontoon boat. so it get kinda wet. I’ll sit in the sun for awhile to dry off. After awhile, the Jane Goodall Effect has them behaving normally around me. They’ve figured out they can’t bum cigarettes from me, but I have a first aid kit, and generally look the other way when they fire up their torches and start doing dabs.

Automatic knives are legal in Texas! That’s what a switchblade is called!
I think the leather slap-jack is also now legal. Cops use to bring those to bear on malcontents with great affect!

I hope the Rittenhouse jury sees this story during a break.

No normal, healthy, man is ever "unarmed" (or not in possession of a deadly weapon) so long as he has normal hands attached to his normal arms. The website One-Punch Homicide presents documentation of more than 200 incidents of homicide committed with but a single blow delivered with a fist.

And these by and large were not great hulking men with fists the size of lunchboxes and intent on murder, these mostly were just normal guys who got in your typical barroom knuckleduster and inadvertently delivered a fatal one-punch blow.

To infer that you couldn't do someone a fatal injury with a skateboard is positively asinine and an obvious effort to excuse someone from the foreseeable consequences of their felonious actions.

Imagine that.

Getting hit in the head can kill someone.

It’s enough to make you think fighting back could possibly be self-defense.
