Grable’s daughter Victoria Colucci recently opened up to Closer Weekly about her late mother and why the actress felt honored to be loved by the troops.
“She would just say that she was a dancer who could act,” Colucci said. “But she felt that one of her greatest accomplishments in life was bringing a little happiness to our soldiers.”
“She would get letters from soldiers and she’d reply,” she continued. “She was proud to help light up the world when it was so dark.”

I’ve got a group photo of my dad and other who wad just finished basic and were headed off to Europe for WWII. I swear by the look on their faces, some starlet is flashing them and saying something like “Don’t forget what you’re fighting for boys.”
Mostly big grins, a few bashful smiles and a few who looked disgusted or have turned away.
There was also the unfortunate element of husband Harry James drinking and gambling a great deal of Grable’s fortune away. She was also, like Ginger Rogers and James Stewart, a conservative Republican.
I knew I liked Betty for more than a couple of reasons.

Looking at the photos of the execrable AOC making the same pose in her “Tax the Rich” dress, I immediately thought of this one of BG, and realized how short of the mark the idiot bartender had come.
I never thought Grable’s legs were that great.
At least not Cyd Charisse great.
