Pay cash. Because every company is woke these days.

What’s the issue with PayPal?
I don’t think there is a good alternative yet aside from crypto which only a small percentage of people use.
Get a credit card.
I’m in a tiff with Pay Pal right now. I ordered a 165 gallon out door deck box. FYI, that would be about the size of a desk. I received a box made from cardboard and fabric about 18 inches by 12 by 12. I sent pay pal a picture of what I received. They admit I didn’t receive what I ordered but in order to get a refund I must return the box to the seller. PP will refund shipping up to 30 dollars. I told PP they could send me a prepaid mailer. I’ve contacted my Credit Card company and they say I have no obligation to return the item since I didn’t order it. PP says they won’t refund until I return.
I’ve advised my wife to avoid PP in the future.
Paypal is safe.
I do not trust the others. They are too new. How safe are they from hackers??
I have done probably done 3000+ transasactions with Paypal and never an issue.
I dumped PayPal a couple of years ago because I didn’t like their policies. In its place, I use a virtual credit card system (you can generate a new one-time number for each purchase with dollar and time limits). Mine is a CitiBank Mastercard. This has worked very well. I don’t like using my “real” credit card number for one-time internet purchases
Look at Zelle if you’re looking to send money to friends and family.
Free Republic uses Paypal.
Paypal tried to recover a payment i received in a car deal. I dropped them then and didn’t pay the charge. The car buyer convinced them the car wasn’t as advertised so they issued him a credit even though the buyer paid me #3,000 in cash after the deposit for the car when he picked it up. They never gave me a chance to rebut his claim. Goodbye Paypal and I use Zelle now.
Must remember that PayPal was started to allow anonymous purchases of porn.
Any credit card.
Paypal is as safe as reverse Russian Roulette (five live rounds). I have scrupulously avoided it, as I was not even in my teens when I observed how much grief it caused ebay sellers — and buyers too.
But about a year ago I needed to purchase something and the merchant gave me only two options, Paypal or some alternative I never heard of. So I used Paypal. Within a month there was so much hinky business in my checking account, including fees to businesses I never patronized, charges I never authorized — I had to assume a breach of some kind and close the bank account.
Nothing compared to the innumerable horror stories all over the web about encounters with Paypal. It’s absolute poison. Just say no!
Get a debit or credit card from a small, local bank. The big guys suck. All of them.
