Righteous people can commit righteous acts of righteous judgment, and be profoundly grieved at having to do so.

Even the Bible notes that God “takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.” The more God-like we are, the less we relish such events.

Kyle did the right thing, but it meant he had to actually USE the rifle he’d likely hoped would achieve the desired goal by its mere presence. Except in time of war, there’s no sane person picks up a gun and goes around HOPING they’ll get the opportunity to use it to kill people. Even in war, having to kill people marks a man’s soul for life. How much more, then, in peacetime where the demand to “go hot” and actually shoot people dead is so much less to be expected?

I’m very proud of Kyle’s cool head and his exhibition of skill-at-arms under duress; he was technically proficient, and performed very well on demand. He was obviously very well-prepared from that standpoint.

I don’t think he was as well-prepared to cope with the psychological and emotional aspects of the matter afterward; he did not expect things to go down as they actually did, and I won’t bash him wishing he hadn’t had to take grave measures in his own defense, ESPECIALLY in light of a rabid cabal on the left that will never forgive nor forget.

I may have mentally crossed up with Marshall Applewhite.

Either way won’t get wrong in future references.

Thanks!

I believe that when you kill someone, even though they might be evil, the fact that you took a human life will haunt you for the rest of your life.

There is nothing sadder that someone who well-born loses their mind and their way.

It wasn’t that sort of breakdown. He became very emotional and started sobbing and crying as he began to describe events right before the shooting. It was the trauma of recalling those moments. It was very real and gut wrenching. I think it demonstrated, beyond a reasonable doubt that the last thing in the world this young man wanted to do was to take another person’s life that night.

I don’t get your point.

Rittenhouse has a great defense. There is nothing he did that would hurt his defense.

The prosecutor is being so abusive to Rittenhouse, the jury is probably becoming even even more sympathetic to Rittenhouse; and, totally pissed off at the prosecutor.

If the judge doesn’t order a directed verdict of not guilty, the jury will take no more than an hour to issue a not guilty verdict.

Just because he was justified in killing two people, that has to be a tough burden to bear for a young man. Life is a precious gift, and I can imagine that taking two lives is a tough load to carry. In time, I’m sure he will believe he made the right choice, but still doesn’t make anyone feel good.

Hard to watch. Poor kid, going through hell. If he had been shooting people in support of BLM, he would have been lionized a soldier for social justice.

This is unacceptable. This young man is innocent and simply defended himself from criminals .

The entire democrat party and all of its voters are responsible for this travesty.

Some Freepers pointed out that Rittenhouse is pursuing an "affirmative defense" strategy here, so the conventional wisdom about keeping the defendant off the witness stand in a criminal case doesn't necessarily apply.

In a criminal case, the burden of proof is on the prosecution. But an affirmative defense effectively means: "The defense does not contest the facts of the incident(s) but contends that he/she was operating out of necessity (in this case, self-defense)."

In a case like this, the burden of proof to establish the legal requirements for the affirmative defense shifts from the prosecution to the defense. As a result, it is often necessary to put the defendant on the stand because the jury has to understand the defendant's state of mind when considering these particular charges.

I'd like to see anyone hold up as well as this young man has since this happened. He was just a teenager and was only trying to do the right thing by helping out 'guarding' a couple of businesses during the insanity.

It's no wonder he broke down. I can only imagine the pressure that has been on him and how he has been painted some kind of a monster, day in and day out. The left is vicious with their lies and false accusations. Hell, there are many middle-aged people who collapse at a fraction of the pressure.

Kyle is not Guilty!!! This is a DemonRat ploy to try and get someone from the Burning Down of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Minneapolis, Minn. etc.

The trial is a big freaking shoe.

I think the kid is kicking the prosecutor’s add. Finds openings to get his defense message in and does not accept many of the premises. He’s been jabbing this guy all day.
