Anchorman Brian Williams, a 28-year veteran of NBC News and MSNBC, said Tuesday that he is leaving the company at the end of this year. “This is the end of a chapter and the beginning of another,” Williams said in a statement. “There are many things I want to do, and I’ll pop up again somewhere.”
For the past 5 years, Williams has anchored “The 11th Hour,” an end-of-the-day newscast and political talk program. CNN Business reported in August that his contract was expiring in the next six months and that he wanted to move off the late-night hour.
His NBC tenure was cut short in 2015 when he was found to have lied in interviews. He was suspended for six months and was replaced by Lester Holt on the “Nightly News.”
A source close to Williams said NBC did make Williams a new contract offer and declined to share the reasons why he passed on it. Williams framed the situation this way: “Following much reflection, and after 28 years with the company, I have decided to leave NBC upon the completion of my current contract in December.”
The source said there will be no imminent announcement about a new role at another media company.

I bet he’s lying.
Que sera, sera!
and nobody watched
I just saw a body floating down the street...
Virtually.
And not a single f___ was given.
“...and was replaced by Lester Holt...”
America needs less Holt.
{yawn} 🥱
“And I’ll pop up again somewhere.” Looks like we’ve got a floater.
nope. nobody will notice.
Who is she?
What, you don’t like affirmative action college dropouts? But he’s such a nice colored man.
My guess is he’s going to Afghanistan to rescue the Americans stranded there and kill a bunch of Taliban in the process.
Williams does have a cool side to him though. He used to clown around on the late night shows. I know he’s a liberal, but he’s not the Joy Reid type.
28 year inveterate liar.
He looks like a swarthy Whitey to me.
Good. May we never see him again.
Was he still on TV?
I believe he wants to cover more news events that he never saw . . .
