There’s no question in my mind that, at this point, COVID is all about obedience to the Democrat Party.
Id rather be notified if I come into contact with a commie lib..trust me Im more scared of that
and if they put my address in the system, it’s a breach of HIPPA.
HIPPA is a joke. I lost count of the times they violated the law there.
And may I ask why, whatever my most recent ailment or test, I get spammed with text messages on those very subjects immediately afterwards?
It works by state, some states have it, some don’t.
Talking iPhone here, you get a notice when you are in the state, asking do you want to turn notifications on.
If you say yes, then your phone is pinging other phones it gets close to. It calls these contacts “random id’s,” and your phone collects them as you go about.
Here’s the real kicker. You have to “share a positive covid diagnosis” on the app for it to work, i.e. “share all the random id’s” you’ve been in close proximity to. Those people should then get a notification on their phone that they’ve been exposed.
If you are in one of the states that is doing the exposure notifications (and I don’t think it’s many, maybe 10 to 15) and you test positive for covid, they will probably ask you if you have exposure notifications activated on your phone. They can download your contacted random id’s, too.
I don’t think many people are using it, and a lot of people wouldn’t remember to post their positive diagnosis to the app, and a lot wouldn’t want to report a positive test for themselves any how.
I’ve set it up on all the states I’ve been in that has made it available to me, but I have not received one notice that I’ve been exposed. I’m a social distancer, though, have been for years. :)

Thanks on the explanation of how it works. It sounds basically worthless, since it requires on someone having the same app and actually entering their personal info. For every notification you get, you probably have twenty other exposures. Maybe a hundred, who knows?
Creepy. THey have to be using your phone to track your proximity to other persons diagnosed (by their phone) and also determining the length of time of exposure.
China uses this kind of software to micromanage the social interactions of the public (Social Credit Score) so it knows if you sit next to someone who has the ‘wrong ideas’ and debits your Social credit score. To protect your score, you have to move away and not sit near someone with ‘wrong thoughts’.
Really creepy - they just repurposed it. I’ve heard that China’s social credit score software has been running in the US for some time now, they just haven’t unveiled it yet.
It’s a similar concept to peer-to-peer networking, but the following must be true:
1) you have Bluetooth turned on
2) you’ve given the app permission to share information about your health
3) you’ve voluntarily input your medical condition in the app or given someone else permission to do so
And then there’s the question of data fidelity and data “freshness.” If the person was “sick” a week ago, and you come into contact with them in, say, the metro, do you get an alert saying you’ve been exposed?
Highly unscientific and likely just a parlor trick sort of app vs. anything with real world data implications.

Simple. Attempt to connect. ID the attempted device. Retrieve data about the suspect device. Access it’s data ANYWHERE (e.g., the cloud, email (if gmail), social media, etc.). Search for identifiable terms related to health, medical, etc. Make a determination based on the analyzed data.
NSA spyware. Track you, and know everyone you encountered every day for the rest of your life. A first step towards the Social Credit Score.
