U.S.—According to sources, your wife threw away an incredibly specific adapter cable you've been lovingly preserving for over 7 years, right before you found the perfect use for it. Sad!
"Honey!" you called across the house. "Have you seen my USB 2.0 Type-B to USB 3.0 Type B-Micro adapter? I've been saving it in this box for such a time as this!"
"I'm sorry, my dear husband," the ignorant wife replied, unaware she was about to utter the very words that would pierce you to your soul. "I threw that thing away just yesterday."
"Noooo!" you replied. "HOW COULD YOU? I found the PERFECT application for it!"
According to sources, you then went outside to dig through the garbage to find it, only to find that garbage day was this morning.
"Nooooooooo!"
You then had to go on Amazon to order a new one, only to find it would take 8 months to arrive due to supply chain congestion.
"NOOOOOOO!"

Not funny....
Come on, you know its usually if the wife doesnt want his stuff around, she disappears it.
dunno about the second one
i do know about the wine and watching horrible gynocentric “reality” tv shows though
The problem here is I am an organizer. I never throw away hubby’s stuff, but I have nice bins all organized on shelves with large labels such as “plumbing”, “electric”, “computer”, “electric cords”, etc., I even organized his screws and nails by length and type into smaller bins.
I thought I was doing him a favor but a few days later he vents to me that he can’t find anything! 😂
I can’t help with the Bernoulli Disk, but I did just find a ZIP drive in my “Big Box of Stuff I May Need Some Day®”
Or comic books! I had Metamorpho the Element Man #1 and Mom threw it out.
Some of the VERY early Spider-Man…..
At $0.12 each I shoulda spent a quarter and put one away and forgot about it😢
Oh yeah? I was emotionally scarred when my mom threw away my comics…which included the second Howard the Duck and the first Swamp Thing.
Yeah, I was a weird kid.
Still am!
I can’t tell you how often I have tossed something after years of not using it, and then needing it a month later.
It’s so frustrating.

= = =
You have discovered my Pack Rat Theorem, Corollary #1:
“You will find the exact use for an object, immediately after it is irretrievably disposed of.”
There are actually two reasons for this.
(1) You have just seen it, and it is fresh in your memory.
(2) By disposing of it, you have changed its status from ‘keep it, it is precious’ to ‘use it’.
I got a new car for the wife
It was a great trade
LOL!
That’s why I keep all the really important stuff in the barn. It’s why I can’t get in the barn. I’ve an IBM 407 to 514 Summary Punch cable if anybody needs one. Thick as my wrist. You could tow a truck with it.
Wind each one in a loop....secure the loop with a bread clip
SCSI cables and peripherals,
NEC computer running CPM/80,
5 1/2 and 8” floppy drives & floppys,
A ton of old hard drives - remember when they were called Winchester drives ?
Seven or eight old Wintel machines in various states of dis-repair,
A Hallicrafters portable TV from the late 1940s,
Four or five tube TVs from the 50s & 60’s
Edison Dictaphone parts,
A few dial telephones,
A couple of Apple IIs,
Three or four All American 5s,
A box full of transistor radios from the 60s,
A complete Akai VT-100 system,
A half dozen VHS machines,
A laser disk player,
Quadraphonic procesors,
Three or four reel to reel tape decks,
A pair of Carver AL-3s, a pair of Magneplanars, two pair of Ohm Fs which suffer from terminal foam-rot, and,
A couple of home-brew Wobblevision devices,
Plus a whole bunch of other stuff that will hang around till
I shuffle off this mortal coil and get thrown our in the rubbish, causing me to come back to haunt the idiot who done it,.
It could be worse, I suppose. I once knew a guy who had a barn filled to the gills with what had to be a few hundred tube radios for Buick automobiles from the 30s through the late 50s.
Keeping something that you don’t have an immediate need for will forever guarantee that you will never need it. Therefore, you must never throw anything away.
Now I wish I hadn't thrown out all my Jaz disks.
There’s a 4 month backlog for bread clips. 5 months for bread.
I’m in the middle of moving. We have a lot of STUFF.
I am glad we have the stands for flat screens bought 18 years ago now that I don’t want to wall mount them. But when you see the stuff for one old couple fills a 53 foot Mayflower trailer you know you have way too much stuff. Six sets of chinaware is too much. 2500 in harmonicas and related mics and Amos is just right.
