A Rhode Island woman’s search for her relative’s displaced gravesite led to the discovery of nearly 1,000 people buried beneath a local highway and an unmarked mass grave containing hundreds of bodies.
Both discoveries were connected to state institution cemeteries in Cranston, where more than 5,000 of Rhode Island’s poor, sick or mentally ill residents were buried between 1875 and 1953.

According to the R.I. Department of Transportation, tens of thousands of people drive on Route 37 every day.
Malcolm said the plaque indicating where the mass grave is located was stolen roughly five years ago.

O’hare Field used to???
On the west end of O’Hare International Airport, at the foot of runway 9-Right, lie some 1,400 dearly departed. The 5-acre cemetery sits just south of the 10,000-foot jet runway, on the Du Page County side of the Du Page-Cook County line, near the Federal Express hangar.
Our family cemetery in western NY goes back to the mid-1700s, and we’re still packing them in. :) I plan to be there some day. There must be 300+ graves there.

The Tallahassee Airport graveyard is much smaller. They did something convoluted with the airport fence to separate it from the airport and give access to the graveyard from the highway. The graveyard and the access road are terrible shape, but still in use.

There was an article in the Chicago Tribune some years ago about things that went on at that place on the northwest side. Human experimentation, torture, general neglect. Some bloodcurdling stuff.
I used to live in Elk Grove Village, but haven’t been over in that area in ages. I remember the pretty little old church and the cemetery.
There are a lot of family cemeteries on farms in the rural valleys around here.
That wasn’t a grave, it was an inter-dimensional portal.

I told my kids to book the Alaskan Cruise and put me on the iceberg.
Colonel Johnson had donated land for the Methodist Church which still exists today and I always wondered why the girl was not buried in the cemetery of the Church. A couple of years ago internet sleuthing found that Seabrooke was the maiden name of the wife of Colonel John A. Johnson who originally owned the property. The wife's family was from the coast and I suspect the girl was a niece or cousin. Being from the coast meant she was probably of the Roman Catholic Church which required her to be buried in her own plot alone.
Successive owners were able to restore the Plantation mansion. I have no doubt that the gravestone is still there laying on the ground and I think I could walk right to it.
They have orders to toss my body in a dumpster behind a 7-11.
I think they offer rental caskets for the show, and a cardboard box for the burial. Pretty cheap that.
I’ve always wanted to be buried in a pine casket. My wife scheduled the burial for next week!
