A Rhode Island woman’s search for her relative’s displaced gravesite led to the discovery of nearly 1,000 people buried beneath a local highway and an unmarked mass grave containing hundreds of bodies.
Both discoveries were connected to state institution cemeteries in Cranston, where more than 5,000 of Rhode Island’s poor, sick or mentally ill residents were buried between 1875 and 1953.
...worried her relative was buried beneath the state highway
According to the R.I. Department of Transportation, tens of thousands of people drive on Route 37 every day.
Malcolm said the plaque indicating where the mass grave is located was stolen roughly five years ago.

Those kinds of burials aren’t unusual from the old institutions. A bunch of them were found around the old mental institution on the northwest side of Chicago years ago.
I figured that they were still burying people there
Who's Malcolm? Oh I see, you tried to do a Reader's Digest version of the online story, cutting and pasting sentences.
LOL
“That is pretty heavy. Do you wonder about them and their lives? Would you ever allow anyone to disturb the sites, if it was your decision?”
I weedwack around the markers every so often and talk to them. The cemetary is in one of my wifes horse paddocks. The original farmhouse burned down in the 50’s and the farm was rented out to local farmers.
Years ago the guys from Barn Builders show (before they became famous) was going to buy our 3 barns but we could never come up with an agreement. One barn they dated 1840-1850, the other 1870’s and the third early 1900’s.
My wife and I have no kids. We are in talks with both the local state park which butts up against our farm and the local state university to donate it to them and keep it as a farm forever after we die.
We do not want it developed out
I like your style. Grunt... very grunt .
A mammal buried in sawdust breaks down pretty quick. That’s what some people do with large farm animals. Just a useful tip in case you ever need to dispose of a sizable mammal.
Now I can turn this computer off and get some work done. Thanks for taking the time.

YES!
—”Katyan (sp.) Forrest American style.”
NO, NO, NO!
The Katyn woods was the murder of the best of Poland that the Russians could find.
Thousands and thousands...
I can only hope the perps burn in Hell for eternity.
I know of one in Palo Pinto County (Texas y’all) that is just two unknown horse thieves that the local VC hanged.
PERFECT!
My grandmother said she recalled truck loads of bodies being brought to our local cementary during the flu epidemic of 1917-1918.

—”We have 9 graves on our small farm from the early to late 1800’s.”
On my uncle’s farm was a small cemetery on a hill clearly visible across a pasture from the house.
It was still used a few times a year.
My uncle always wanted to be buried there on his farm.
The state /county did everything to prevent it!
Sadly it never happened.
Holy cow.
The future of the Unvaxxed if they get their way.
“Just what does it matter?”
It only matters the first Tuesday of every other November when they sneak out to vote.
Mass graves were very common - have a great-great aunt that is likely buried in one at a state mental hospital in an adjoining state. Only problem is that ‘medical privacy’ is so restrictive I’d have to get a court order just to see the records. The burial ground is posted with no trespassing signs, which is itself illegal in that very same state.
Good Lord alone knows the sketchy stuff that happened in these places.
