Russia’s top domestic security agency, the FSB, has aired a series of concerns about Facebook’s flagship wearable tech device, saying the camera-equipped glasses designed in partnership with Ray-Ban could be used for espionage. In a statement published on Monday, officials said that the American-designed ‘smart glasses’ “have design features that mean they can be classified as a special tool intended for secretly obtaining information.” The decision opens the door to a potential ban not only on their sale, but on their use in the country.
Facebook describes the spectacles as “an authentic way to capture photos and video, share your adventures, and listen to music or take phone calls — so you can stay present with friends, family, and the world around you.” Known as ‘Ray-Ban Stories’, they allow users to start recording using just verbal commands, and retail from around $400 a pair.

You get it for free but the quality sucks. You have no say in how it works. The guy who runs it gets rich. There's no real competition. You have no privacy. And if you say one thing they don't like they'll shut you up. |

I don’t know anything about this other than what is written in the article.
Spies have been embedding cameras in glasses for decades and don’t understand the concern.
This just lets any shmuck do the same with his social media
When my wife and I argue about who said what when I keep pointing my air remote at her to rewind real life.
Has not worked yet. Maybe these glasses will help?

I do that in analog.”
Each morning at about 7 am, I bring my wife her morning cup of coffee while she gets her analog phone and Chromebook fired up while still in bed.
In about an hour+ without FB, she has contacted and sometimes responded to our family and/or friends from Africa to our East Coast, in between and to the West coast.
In about 15 minutes from now (9 am) she will be contacting our church friends and other local friends or responding to their texts. Some will be via texts and some by phone.
At about 10 am, she will make and receive live phone calls from relatives and some friends.
This is the time she reads her latest Kindle and we discuss what is happening globally and here.
Our tv stays off until about 7 pm to about 9 pm. Then, it goes off until the next evening at about 7 pm.
I do grocery shopping about 2x a week while she mends from her orthopedic issues.
We get deliveries for all things, 7 days a week. We have not been in any store except one grocery store since the pandemic started.
We attend church via closed circuit tv both live and recorded. When her orthopedic issues are handled, we will be back into our church in person.
There are excellent restaurants with in a 5 minute drive which have reliable pickup service. I order the dinners on line and go get the dinners, and she gets the table ready. We have been inside 2 restaurants since the pandemic.
We could use FB for a lot of the above, but why feed those who hate us.
