The Biden plan would give the IRS power to track bank accounts with $600 or more. This is outrageous. Are people planning to reduce their balance to under $600? What are our options?

It’s not tracking balances of $600 or more. It is tracking purchases or movements of money in any and all checking accounts when the purchases or movements themselves are larger than $600.00. Like if you purchased a recliner the feds would have a record of that. Or you withdrew $750 in cash that would be reported to the feds. Right now none of that is reported it is considered protected by privacy laws.

So what happens if I buy some guns and ammo and the purchase is over $600? Do I get put on some list? What’s to stop the the Biden IRS from putting a halt on the transaction because they don’t like what I’m buying?

Multiple withdrawals every week if necessary and only use cash for everything. That way at least they cannot easily flag any one transaction as being the motive for behavior.
I believe that it is a move to excite the paranoid, violate our privacy even more,
and corral folks into getting into cryptocurrency,
which, in the past, has enjoyed a certain amount of anonymity .
It's all just an increase of the 'Surveillance State'.
With a shift into crypto, the IRS/ the FED could just check your financial assets
on a computer, with just one click !

... or any democrat and their families and staffers? They seem to exempt themselves from all of their communist dictates to the rest of us.
The IRS, a division of the DNC, will track their political enemies. Only.
If they look at my account, they won’t find anything of interest. But, as another poster stated, if these transactions are covered under privacy laws, how is this not in violation of these laws? Or is this just another instance of a malignant government that does whatever it damned well pleases?
