A Halloween hairpiece poking fun at “Karen” — the heavily memed term for entitled white women who call the cops on black people and defy mask mandates — is being slammed as tone deaf and racist on social media.
The Karen costume came to light after a Twitter user named Helen Shivers shared a snap of the inflammatory accessory, dubbed a “Karen Wig,” that she came across at a costume shop last week. She captioned the pic: “and the scariest costume goes to…”
The packaging for the wig, which is sold online by Spirit Halloween for $19.99, features a pic of a model in an exaggerated bouffant blonde wig and sweater lowering a pair of sunglasses and flashing an accusatory glare. (Note: The infamous ‘do is widely believed to have been inspired by the asymmetrical haircut of Kate Gosselin from the reality TV show “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” circa 2009.)

Karen is a term for a woman who wants to talk to the manager all the time.
Race has nothing to do with “Karen”. They are doing cultural appropriation.
Late 1970’s my cousin dressed up as Uncle Remus from Disney’s “Song of the South” for one Halloween. He would sing Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah with the little dance.
That would send liberals into seizures now.
Karens are supposed to be overly rule enforcing and superego driven.
Unless I’m misreading it they also don’t defy mask mandates and instead try to enforce them.
And complains about people NOT wearing masks…

Defy mask mandates? I think of the typical Karen as one who would call Child Protective Services to have your kids taken away for not wearing masks while playing in your own yard.
Some racists are Karens. But not all Karens are racists. It’s a Venn Diagram kinda thing.
I saw just yesterday where blacks were putting down whites that had curly (Afro) hairdos...
I never heard anything about Wendy Williams or Beyonce and their blonde hairdos...
Can you imagine the outrage if this Karen trend was a black woman?
For starters it would never have gotten off the ground.
