“Against All Odds,” Phil Collins is soldiering on.
A frail-looking Collins finished his first show with Genesis on the group’s “The Last Domino?” tour in Birmingham Monday night, remaining seated throughout the concert.

Collins, 70, sang all of the evening’s tunes from a chair onstage, though he was not alone in that regard: The group’s guitarist Mike Rutherford also opted to play while perched on a stool at points.

The Birmingham show was the first stop on the band’s farewell tour and their first live performance in 13 years since 2007’s Turn It On Again Tour.
In the latest issue of Mojo, Collins said recently that this will be the final chance to see Genesis in concert. “This English and American tour, that will be enough for me,” he said.
Cover Images Collins has struggled with his health in recent years and has been open about his physical issues heading into this tour.
Asked how he’s been prepping for months of three-hour shows, Collins told the Guardian that he hasn’t: “I don’t do anything at all,” he said. “I don’t practice singing at home, not at all. Rehearsing is the practice. These guys [his band mates] are always having a go at me for not, but I have to do it this way.”

Duke was the last album that one could qualify as "prog". Heathhaze is a masterpiece.
Actually Abacab (sans Whodunnit?) is pretty good too. I like “Me and Sarah Jane” and “Keep It Dark”.
🙏
I used to play “ABACAB” the song, not the whole album, on the keys in a cover band back in the day. Ahhh, sweaty smoke filled bars and stale beer and fistfights...
During the mid 1980s, you could not turn on a rock or Top 40 radio station without hearing either Phil Collins or his band Genesis within any given hour.
The "...But Seriously" album from 1989 featuring "Another Day In Paradise" was my favorite solo album by him even though at that point, his popularity was waning.
My B-I-L used to be friends with Albert Lee.
When I first met Albert he was about 60 and he could play Guitar like nobody’s business. He was a picker and a grinner.
Saw him at the NAMM Show a few Years ago and his playing isn’t what it used to be. He was still good, but it was apparent his age is really catching up to him. He must be in his late 70’s now.
Didn’t help that he broke his Arm when he stepped off a Curb in Paris and fell down some years back. The Broken Bone had to be reset by a Doctor here after the French Doctor screwed it up.
Of course there are exceptions to the rules. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present the one and only Keith Richards. Even falling out a Tree in Fiji and landing on his head has not stopped him.
I heard Keith has severe arthritis now and can barely play.
That Video really went after Reagan.
They should do a new one with Biden.
I like his solo albums "So" and "Us".
Some people said they didn't like Genesis after he left.
But, I thought "Trick of the Tail" was a masterpiece, and "Wind & Wuthering" gave us some great songs.
Eventually, their music changed with the times, but so did Gabriel's.
I am a fan of Phil Collins as a drummer. His work with Brand X was amazing.

“Genesis is widely seen as one of the greatest Progressive Rock bands of all time.”
Yeah, okay... I was into the Allan Holdsworth, UFO, Fusion jazz, stuff like that. I had left Rock behind with the exception of maybe a Rush album or two and perhaps The Police and the guitar work of Andy Summers. I did enjoy The Talking heads, and Missing Persons Spring Session M, but hey, they all came out of Zappa projects, what’s not to like!
The Rock sweet spot for me was early Brit Rock (I wasn’t a Beatles fan), and perhaps until about 72 or 73, maybe until 75 or so.
Disco? I played electric bass, cut my teeth on Motown and Stax. Disco was up tempo with that little bit of something extra going on the low end. And people actually started dancing again. That was cool.
Opinions are like a$$hole$, and you are one.
Show some class.
When Rush toured in South America, their fans would sing along to the instrumental pieces.

I’l go to “I Missed Again (Live)”.
His remake of “You Can’t Hurry Love” is excellent.
My Wife’s Brother is going to the Stones Concert in Los Angeles next Month. I’ll ask him how Keith did.
I saw them years ago and they really [put on a Show, especially considering they are at least ten Years older than me.
My claim to fame is that Mick and I share the same Birthday, July 26th.
I’m ten years younger so I always have hope I’ll be as wealthy as he is by the time I reach his age. Of course, the SOB will probably outlive me.
Oh yes, that YYZ in Rio was fantastic, the crowd really made the show.
Face Value is really a good solo album from Phil, not as pop, as his later solo albums were. “The Roof Is Leaking” is a real good song on that.
Gabriel’s first solo album is brilliant, “Moribund the Burgermeister” is probably the most Genesis-sounding song he ever did. “Waiting for the Big One”, “Humdrum”, “Down the Dolce Vita”, and the best version of “Here Comes the Flood”.
Hey gator - That is supposed to be his “divorce” album. It is excellent. In the Air Tonight is classic too - how the bass guitar enters the song.
I heard he changed Missed Again, from being a hard hitting anti-ex spouse song to the version that it is.
