SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — The search for Gabby Petito's fiancé, Brian Laundrie, resumed Tuesday in the area he reportedly had last been, North Port police said.
He's a person of interest in Petito's disappearance amid what the department calls an FBI-led criminal investigation.
A police spokesperson says authorities will be searching for Laundrie in the Carlton Reserve where it was believed he went hiking about a week ago.
"This time, moving in from the Venice side of the area, along with adjoining lands. A weekend ground search and aerial search Monday of the 25-thousand-acre preserve has yet to yield any answers, but we must press on," spokesperson Josh Taylor said.
"Please be aware, the Carlton Reserve is a vast and unforgiving location at times. It is currently waste deep in water in many areas.
"This is dangerous work for the search crews as they are wading through gator and snake-infested swamps and flooded hiking and biking trails."

If they in fact did lie then morally, yes they would be responsible. Not sure about the law in that case and that jurisdiction.
Laundrie denied the allegations but had problems with the alligator.

LOL! None of these critters are any fun, highlands or swamplands.
I’m a member of the Florida Trails Association, and they get out and clear trails, etc. because we’re working on building the Florida Trail.
That said, I saw that the family home was classified as a crime scene. I wonder if he killed himself there and perhaps the family dumped the body in the swamp?
Who knows? This is going to keep true crime writers going for years.
Kind of late to the party but from his point of view parents are a blessing and a curse.
If tbey cared enough to help him get away tgen they will be the link that eventually leads the authorities back to him.
Assuming he made a clean break and is holing up somewheres eventually one side will want to reach out to the other and someone will be watching/listening.
They probably have panthers there. But you’d probably not see one even if you lived there for 20 years.

I’m guessing that what Florida lacks in the way of tough downhill mountain biking they make up for in the sheer excitement of attempting to outrun a charging gator.

I look at it this. Had the police had a constant monitor on this guy, they wouldn’t be in the position they’re in now. This was just incompetence on their part. Don’t get me wrong as I support the blue but it didn’t take an Einstein to know this guy was gonna flee the moment authoritirs were closing in on the target.
They should do it the easy way. Ride around in open-topped vehicles and look for vultures.
