The comparison has been kicked around since the campaign, because it's so on-point. However, Gill was a victim in that he didn't perceive the danger posed by his power-hungry associates until it was too late.
Joe, on the other hand... I keep going back to something that I read when Biden announced his candidacy. There was an article that described an exchange between Biden and Obama, where the Kenyan said something to the effect of..."Joe, you don't have to do this, you know..." That's an odd thing to say. Why, it's almost as though everyone knew that Joe was in failing health, and that Joe - well aware that he was going to decline and probably die in office - chose to do that to help secure the office for another unpopular Democrat. Regardless of how much strife he put the nation through in the bargain. Heck, he probably considered that a bonus.
I generally find it very difficult to hold sick, elderly people in absolute contempt, but I really believe that Joe willingly signed up for what has become a twisted, pathetic spectacle.
It's intended to suggest that Biden had no actual ambitions to become president, but rather was motivated by noble, selfless ideals to "make the sacrifice" and run.

Sure, that’s the spin - but it ignores Joe’s presidential ambitions being openly displayed as far back as 1988. He probably wanted that office as much or more than Hillary did. It has often been said that the people who desire elected office the most are the last to whom it should be entrusted. POTATUS is Exhibit “A”.
