Don’s Pizza King in Belmar has closed after 54 years in business.
The Asbury Park Press reported the beloved pizza place was shuttering following a Sept. 5 Facebook post in which the restaurant cited staffing shortages. It was owned by Don Iglay, known to some locals as “The King.”
“At a minimum, the King needs a break,” the post read. “Like everyone he’s been short-staffed all summer to the point where he is out waiting on people and cooking the pizza!”
Whether the restaurant, located at 811 Main St., would be closed permanently or temporarily was not specified in the Facebook posts. The Iglay family did not return messages seeking comment.
“My dad’s running it and he’s worn out,”

The Joisy coast pizzerias are an extension of NYC and Long Island. This guy’s joint will be replaced in no time. There’s no #ing shortage of slices — and there will never be a shortage of slices.
Yeah because there will still be pizzas it doesn’t matter that businesses close.
Just like the left wants. Shut down small business. F him right?
Can’t they find Afghans to make the pizza?
Not if the “worker shortages” keep up.
Don’t give the Democrats any ideas.
Don’t worry, the Afghans would refuse the job and stay on welfare. They can’t work around the pepperoni.
Knowing the Democrats, they’d insist on serving halal pizza with camel-meat pepperoni . . .
Agreed. Im not overthinking this. My brother is in the resto business, and he told me he doubts he’ll be doing this into his old age, and he just did it so my nephews and nieces have money for college. Biggest turnover are resto/fast food employees. Hard to replace even as they steal from the cashier or dont show up for work.

Have you ever been inside a pizzeria?
if Dad is worn out, why aren’t kids or family helping out or at least helping to find more help? can’t feel sorry when the family not doing all they can to support dad, after dad’s business supported them numerous years.
On Tuesday we stopped in to our local Hardee’s for breakfast. “Closed indefinitely due to staffing issues” was on the sign.
My son has a year and a half left in college. He’s not going this year as they require the jab to be on campus. He was hired immediately as a line cook at a semi-fine dining restaurant. The starting wage is $17.00 per hour. At least he’s self supporting and the boss loves his work ethic.
The pinko’s great reset continues. Make it so burdensome to continue on, that you have to stop and begin relying on the government for your own sustinence. Large corporations continue to fall in line or are actively supporting it.
Really? I got the Moderna and no side affects.
I am paying slightly less for part-time cat cuddlers and cat sitters!
Working with my financial coach and strategist...my rates are going to need to rise from $20 per visit to $27, ASAP.
We are all feeling the rise in prices, but for those that use professional pet care services...I think there will be some sticker shock, but bookings so far have not slowed down.
“I got the Moderna and no side affects.”
I doubt if possible side effects is the reason most people avoid these “vaccines”; it’s principles. Using murdered babies’cells is ghoulish, and un-Christian. Putting unknown substances into the Temple Of The Holy Spirit ... “It ain’t right”, as they say here in TN.
Wise decision on his part. Who knows what long-term issues he could have? He might have chosen a better path by not being on campus considering the crap that’s being taught there. Can he finish via online classes?
His strong work ethic could be his saving grace, as many young people don’t have that.
He doesn’t want to spend that kind of money for online classes. The tuition doesn’t change and it’s exorbitant.
His head is screwed on pretty tight so he’s immune to the leftist teachings. He’s a solid conservative that voted for Trump.
My heart hurts for him in that a person needs that degree to be hired in his field of choice.
