At least 12 people were shot in East St. Louis Thursday night, with the suspected gunman's car carrying crashing into a passing train as they tried to flee The mass shooting occurred on the 500 block of Martin Luther King Drive, with six people taken to St. Louis University Hospital as of Thursday evening

The three suspects then tried to flee the scene in their vehicle, but were struck by a passing train as they attempted to cross the train tracks

Meanwhile, police say they are currently searching for the three suspects in a wooded area near 5th and Missouri, KMOV reports

No arrests have been made as of yet. The condition of the victims remains unclear

If it weren't for the injuries to the passengers on the train, I'd say there's no downside to this story. Frankly it incorporates all the elments, starting with MLK Drive, youths, gun play, justice served up by Casey Jones … gee whiz, a perfect storm. Just beautiful!

There’s just a whole lot of stupid going on there.

If several people on the train were injured by the collision, I can’t imagine they escaped with minor injuries, although it is possible.

If they are seriously injured, if they don’t go to the hospital, then their chances of making it drop. If they go to the hospital, they will be caught.

It’s quite a Catch 22 for them.

Go and get caught, or not go and die.
