I kept my answer to all, "no's, regardless of what the questions were. She then wanted to give me Pfeizer, which I told her that was not going to happen. I choser Moderna, as I've read it is the least problematic.
Once I got the vaccine, I got and left immediately, despite being advised to sit for 15 minutes.
A doctor said Medical Journals report.......taking vits C and D with a zinc tablet. .........protects you against Covid.
Wow.......nice collection.......clever you.
Would work for me. Glad you found someone special. Live, Laugh, Love I always say.
I get your post completely, Paul R. and those are completely valid points. I would clarify, it isn't a question of comparable magnitude, but of concept, which I see that you can connect with.
It is kind of a deeper issue for me, one that has been eating at me for a long time.
It brought to mind a short video I saw a few years back, of some young Russian guys driving a custom made motorbike down a highway: LINK: Russian Motorcycle Band that I found humorous, but it also saddened me in an odd way. It is frivolous, and they are having a huge amount of fun...but...you could never do that in the USA. You would get pulled over so fast it would make your head spin. Probably get charged with a number of violations, motorcycle likely would be impounded, you could even get jailed.
Looking at it, what they were doing, absolutely it is dangerous. No question. No seatbelts. Who knows if the motorcycle was solidly built or even inspected for road-worthiness. Your cymbal could fall off your drum set, hit another car, cause an accident and even kill someone. But at the same time, it made me a bit sad.
Young guys in what was not so long ago the most repressive country in the world, the Soviet Union, have more freedom in some ways than we have here.
Freedom to drive a dangerous contraption down a road. Freedom to injure themselves or others. Freedom to be stupid and make dumb-ass mistakes.
Our country has become so risk-averse that I believe our personal freedoms have been eroded to the point our government and society at all levels is following us invisibly around, wagging its invisible finger at us, telling us we can't drink soda because it does this, we can't eat sugary cereal because it does that.
Bill Whittle is a conservative commentator, at LINK: Bill Whittle: Conservative Opinion and Commentary and over the years, I have come to see him as the foremost conservative commentator on the state of affairs. He connects with me so solidly on both a personal level and a conservative level that I became a member a few years back.
He put out an extremely relevant video podcast (for me, at least) a few weeks back called LINK: Three and a Half Feet: The Secret to a High-Flying, Deep-Diving Life of Adventure (by Bill Whittle) By the way, he has made dozens if not hundreds of short videos on conservative topics, most of them between 5 and 15 minutes long, but all of them good...if you are a conservative...:)
Bill Whittle is an interesting guy. He is flawed as all of us are. He struggled with drugs and depression as a young man. Was even a liberal at one point. But this is a man who has lived life fully, with all the joy and pain life can give. And the title intrigued me when I saw it. "Three and a half feet..." What is that about? What it boils down to is...if you cannot have risk in life (and no matter what-there is ALWAYS risk) then you cannot live life fully. The title relates to when he and his wife got married late in life and went to Las Vegas on their honeymoon, he stayed at a place that had a huge number of swimming pools, eight of them, clustered in small area. But when he went to the pools, even though they were large in area, they were all...three and a half feet deep. All of them. And it was quite different from what he knew growing up where his father was a high end hotel manager for hotels that had big swimming pools that were fifteen feet deep that he, as an eight year old boy, had full independence to access fully at any time. And did. And how that swimming in deep pools at his age led him down so many other remarkable paths in life that he found the concept of only having pools that were three and a half feet deep...disturbing. When he asked the management if they had any deeper pools, they said no, that the pools were ALL three and a half feet deep, so nobody would get hurt. For their own safety. And he realized that being exposed to risk opened a lot of personal growth and empowerment that he would have possibly never had access to if he hadn't experienced that freedom to injure himself in a 15 foot pool at the age of eight. That pool led him to scuba dive and be on a Bermudian Dive Boat at nine, glide at 10,000 feet in a glider around the peak of Mount Baldy in California as a young man, and be a pilot. That deep pool led to all that for him, and I agree.
It got right to the heart of what bothers me about an overly nanny state. I am not anti-government or anti-regulation, though I believe we as a nation have completely gone off the edge with regulation, our Federal Register containing all of our laws (last I looked) being around 70,000 pages. If you don't have the freedom to experience risk...you don't have the freedom to be great. All I have seen through this is people fearfully clinging to...safety? It offends me.
My feeling is that there are a lot of things that cause people to die. Pneumonia, influenza, Covid, people die of those, and do a lot of it year over year. But we don't alter life greatly because of those things, we live it. Because it is what God put us on Earth for.
There is something, and undercurrent to this whole fiasco that I find unpalatable, spirit quenching, or even sinister. I think it is the relish with which some components of our culture embrace the controlling aspect of it. There is a tyrant in all of us which most of us suppress when the Constitution isn't enough to keep it under wraps, but events have caused the tyrant to come out in some people.
Yep. When you have someone dealing in bad faith the first transaction is never the end — it’s just the hook leading to the next exploitation.
People are short sighted and think the deal is, “get vaccinated, keep my job”, but in reality it’s, “give them control, keep my job.”
That control never ends, they will keep coming back with more directives because they earnestly believe their control of you is necessary to save the world.
There is a C.S. Lewis quote (paraphrasing) that it is better to be governed by robber barons than by omnipotent moral busybodies because the greed of robber barons is more easily satisfied than the need for the busybodies to feel self righteous.
Thanks, I saw that and thought “Good God! Is that right? I had no idea.”
But didn’t have the time to run it down, las night, though I intended to.
Hahahahaha...I do a lot of eye-rolling these days, for sure.

Eewww.... Bears repeating here
Thank you for saying so.
As I was writing that, I could feel a flame in my heart...I know now what that expression means.
Thank you, poconopundit. Boy, these are weird and dangerous times, aren’t they?
Dittos on the zinc supplement and at least some kind of Zn++ ionophore. Vitamin A, quercetin (from green tea), and hydroxychloroquine also work, besides the Vitamin D3.
Even though the COVID-19 Wuhan virus may be detected with a deep nasal probe, that does not mean infection. But with this prophylaxis protocol, it does not replicate and therefore no infection results. The real mischief does not start until the lung tissues are infected and the replication results in an inflammation that eventually causes a pneumonia-like condition, and THAT kills.
If anybody asks, I no longer state whether or not I got the vaccine. None of their damned business. But then I am retired and so not seek employment.
Thanks for the information!
“And? Why?“
Because… because.. haven’t you read the NEWS REPORTS for the past year and a half?!? - this virus is a KILLER!!!
Why… ONLY 99.7% of those who contract this DISEASE come out of it alive!!! Once you come in contact with it, you’re DEAD!!
Come on, man!
(this is sarcasm, by the way…)
there are a lot of things that cause people to die. Pneumonia, influenza, Covid, people die of those, and do a lot of it year over year. “
-not to mention falls, traffic accidents, common colds, etc….
We ALL die of SOMETHING SOMETIME. Every last one of us.
“But we don’t alter life greatly because of those things, we live it. Because it is what God put us on Earth for.”
- YES indeed!! We’ve been doing it EVERY year of our lives - in a world with deadlier things than a respiratory virus.
Why are we panicking now? - Just because our news and government say so is NOT a good reason.
My immunized wife is a Mask Karen also. This has made it impossible for us to go anywhere together. So we don’t.
Excellent comment post. I learn something new everyday here. Thank you.
Me too, FRiend. It is why I have continued to come back here all these years. It can be contentious, but...I have been constantly learning how to deal with that.
We salute those who are about to die. 😐
My poor wife isn’t a “Mask Karen” (thank goodness) but she is uncomfortable with my militant refusal to just put it on. I can tell, and I wish it weren’t so because I love her and hate subjecting her to that internal conflict.
But I just cannot knuckle under. It goes against what I believe.
But she has reasons I cannot discuss that are somewhat out of her control, so I give her latitude and patience when my heart and emotion allows it.
Coincides with my reasoning thank you.
If the novavax becomes available here I may get it. The only thing keeping me would be my stubborn resistance to the hysteria. I don’t want to be compelled by propaganda or law and I feel like that’s what it would be. Pragmatically I may take Novovax if it becomes “necessary” for me to function in this nutty world.
