My Lady and I frequently sit out on our front porch in Saint George, Utah, which is located in the south west corner of Utah. It is an almost ideal place for watching star.
Unfortunately Saint George’s growth in population means we are starting to get some light pollution from street lights and commercial growth. We have also been the unfortunate beneficiaries of California’s Forest and Wild Fires of late which degrade our ability to see the stars and other astronomical sights above our fair city and state.
Last evening had singularly good viewing among the nights we’ve been having lately. Zero clouds and California must have decided to export its Liberal and Progressive Mistakes in Forest Management somewhere else for a change, at least for a short time. In any case, the stars were glorious and the viewing of multiple satellites in the orbits were easily spotted as the traversed overhead. In other words the viewing was great!
We went out about 9:00 PM and settled in our rocking chairs to enjoy a fairly cool breeze watching for what could be seen. I was easily spotting several orbiting satellites at once—it’s getting crowded up there—finding several heading east and a few vectoring north.
At about 9:13PM, I spotted a particularly bright object close to Arcturus heading East fairly rapidly. Due to its velocity and brightness, I thought it was fairly large and low Earth orbiting. I brought my Lady’s attention to it and we both followed it as it moved across the sky all the way through Scorpius, into the middle of Sagittarius where it suddenly made a sharp 60° turn South (no curve) and then vanished! About five seconds after the object disappeared, something burst and flashed extremely, brighter than Vega or Venus, about 5° due north of where the object vanished… and as the flare subsided it flared up again a half-second later about half as bright and half as large as the first burst which had appeared to span about 1° and the second about 1°. When this double burst died away, there was no residue or evidence of any debris where the double bursts had occurred.
This could have been a meteor coming directly toward us, because there was no plasma trail and we saw only the burst from front-on. That’s possible. However, it was almost instantaneous, with no buildup.
About 20 minutes later, around 9:35, we saw ANOTHER single burst/flare/flash about five degrees above the last tail star. Shaula, in Scorpius, did the same thing, without the secondary flash. Odd.
Around 10:24PM, I noticed an what I thought was an odd satellite, a low brightness, East to West orbiting object… but then I noticed it was NOT following a typical orbit but was actually following a parabola! I pointed it out to my Lady. As we followed its flight, it suddenly started doing loops to the north! It did three rounded loops, all about equal size, then it started doing zig-zags back to the East, then West, about six of those, going north with fast, sharp changes of direction… It then went straight, heading west, appeared to approach the position (from our viewpoint) of Arcturus and started just moving around in random directions just to the East of Arcturus. This continued for about five minutes until both it and Arcturus were occluded by the tree line and we could no longer observe them.
About 10:45PM, my Lady spotted something moving around in the Southeast through a palm three across the street. We started watching it and soon discerned there were three lights in the distance moving around each other over a mountain in that direction. They acted like they were dancing. They were not airplanes, but could have been drones. They eventually took off toward the South.
We finally went inside about 11:05 PM when a high level mist started forming that caused the stars to start looking blurry. Weird night.
Saint George is about 75 miles from Nellis Air Force Base and probably 200 miles from Area 51…
Thats just mitt Romney taking a test flight back to mars
The truth is out there.
i know this isn’t what you saw, but one year around us, someone released a bunch of those floating candle balloons- or whatever they are- they were way off in the distance, and they got caught up in some swirling winds, and it really looked like possible UFO’s maneuvering wildly- didn’t know what they were til la bit later someone found out they were those candle things- All we could see from a distance were the faint lights from the candles glowing through the bag or balloon or whatever they were, and moving very weirdly-
Nah, we folks in Utah now know that Romney is from Venus. . .
Pierre Delecto is in Uranus.
“Romney is from Venus”
Right because as we all know ...MEN are from Mars
While walking the dogs I saw 2 objects in the sky 2 nights ago I still cannot explain. One was over top the other by about a few hundred feet moving East. The one on top would stop every so often than catch up to the other.
Whether aliens or top secret US craft they were not airplanes
I saw bigfoot one time...at least I think it was?
I had a similar experience last year. 4 very bright slow moving lights criss-crossing the sky.
They didn't meet-up, maneuver, or change direction so I suspect they were satellites.
Cool story and thanks for sharing.
I've seen these. They're easily identifiable as floating candles. What I saw were definitely not floating candles. The lights I saw were extremely bight-white and passed behind high clouds. It was also a windy night. The first light I saw was perpendicular to the wind. The others were flying into the wind that was blowing from the north-west.
Firefighters call them arson devises.
Your answers are in the Bible. Don’t be fooled
Don’t worry. Magic underwear is magic because it prevents the aliens from doing what they travel across the universe to do. Probe our anuses. Utah is safe.
Maybe the ufo’s from Skinwalker ranch are bugging out. After all our entire planet is heading towards the dustbin
Deer camp, mid 60’s, night time - Cascade Mountains in Washington State - four of us saw a bright object moving much faster than a jet airplane then it stopped, split into two pieces and they both took off like a shot. The event might have lasted 30 seconds. No idea what it was.
I’d have been on by third Macallan’s in that viewing duration, so I would not have been able to recall the detail you’ve provided....so, I believe you.
Probably a test flight from the Chinese Air Force base near there.
