After yesterdays deadly explosion at Kabul AP, I was wanting to know what type and amount of explosive could have possibly caused the carnage that could kill over a hundred people. Does anyone here have that knowledge?
And NO WAY that was a suicide vest.
There were a lot of explosives left behind by the military. I’m sure they’ll be upping their game.
On second thought, it was probably OUR CIA who planted it.
That is the basis for my question, that was one hell of a blast.
... don’t know about a vest, but one report said it was a bomber with 8 mortar shells daisy chained together and detonated.... ymmv
If ANY of that explosive material matches that which is contained in weaponry GIVEN to the Taliban by Traitor Joe, WE WILL NEVER HEAR ABOUT IT.
Good thought
A big No confidence in any damned thing CIA or FBI.
Criminals they be.

I read it was 2 surface to air missles. I saw the resulting photographs of the blast clouds and they were high in the air. If it were a suicide bomber the blast clouds & debri would not rise that high but explode / & spread vertically.
a lot of it was the blast seemed to funnel thru the “canal” they were standing in wi 4’-5’ high banks
It was a car bomb, parked in the same spot for a couple days.
So much so that I doubt that was how it happened. Remember, Timothy McVeigh, with a whole Ryder truck and 4,000 lb. of explosives only managed to kill 168 people, while this thing murdered 170 Afghans plus 13 U.S. service members, for a total of 183 victims. Something more is going on here.
I served 26 years in the Army with 20 in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal field, my last tour in Iraq in 2010 I did post blast investigations/reconstructions. My partner I worked with in Iraq is in Kabul right now, I communicated with him yesterday. His initial thought from hearing the explosion was a VBIED. Apparently is was a suicide bomber strapped with about 50-100lbs of semtex or C-4. Yes a bomb that size could easily create that much damage and destruction in a very crowded area, especially if nails or ball bearings were added. The British were responsible for the Bomb Disposal school that taught the trade to the Afghani Army so yes there are tons of plastic explosives left behind.
Thanks for that info, just hard to believe you could get through a check point undetected, unless it was planned to get through undetected.
He was probably ushered through the checkpoints they are one in the same. I will know allot more in a few days, not going to bother Mark until he is stateside and safe.
There is an explosive scale. TNT is rated 1.0 by definition. Dynamite is rated .4 on that scale. C4 (RDX) is rated 1.6. PETN is rated 1.9.
Yeah, I looked up the minimum safe distance for 100lb of C4 open on the ground: 1,500 feet. Concussion kill radius is almost 1,000 feet.
