The military and National Guard have had real training at this before. Every city that hosts G7 type conferences is locked down and the people striped of their rights. The excuse is, rioters.
Here in Pittsburgh it happened some years back. Curfews, stopping people from moving around, the whole bit. There were thousands of troops.
Turns out their excuse was about 3 dozen rioters who move from city to city.
The rioters were given free reign around the city with the troops escorting them. They were allowed to smash windows on one business street. They would occasionally march into different areas.
They were outed by an embedded reporter who was given air time on a local radio show (Mike Pintek, who was also a reporter and knew this woman had international experience as a journalist). No MSM picked up her story.
The only people who ignored the curfew to resist them were college students. I was shocked and happy to see the campus police went out to defend the students.
Afterward there was no call to investigate imprisoning a population over such a flimsy pretext. The people of Pittsburgh went back to electing Democrats because they're “for the working man”.
