Sotrovimab, the newest antibody therapy, was developed by GlaxoSmithKline and Vir Biotechnology after a large collaborative study by scientists from across the nation discovered a natural antibody (in the blood of a SARS survivor, back in 2003) that has remarkable breadth and efficacy.
Experiments showed that this antibody, called S309, neutralizes all known SARS-CoV-2 strains – including newly emerged mutants that can now “escape” from previous antibody therapies – as well as the closely related original SARS-CoV virus.
Jay Nix, leader of the Molecular Biology Consortium based at Berkeley Lab’s Advanced Light Source (ALS), used beamlines at the ALS and beamlines at SLAC’s Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource to perform X-ray crystallography on samples of survivor-derived antibodies during an early phase of the study. His work, alongside other crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy findings, helped generate detailed structural maps of how these antibodies bind to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, allowing the wider team to select the most promising contenders and advance them to cell culture- and animal-based studies. Following exciting lab results, the developers designed sotrovimab based on the structure of S309, and evaluated it in clinical trials.
The FDA granted an EUA for sotrovimab in late May after trials showed that people with mild to moderate COVID-19 infections who received an infusion of the therapy had an 85% reduction in rates of hospitalization or death, compared with placebo.

Sounds promising indeed!
Right now monoclonal antibody infusion is what anyone who becomes symptomatic should take immediately... demand it!
Get it quickly!
I do hope this antibody, called S309, pans out.
So many things to worry over regarding this covid mess.
Will the afflicted be able to locate a physician to order monoclonal antibody infusion and a location to infuse them?
Will people who attempt self medicating for prophylaxis be able to find the proper meds and be able to calculate a proper dose? This is critical so do your own research and ASK those who should know.
Will people be STUPID and try self-medicating AFTER they display symptoms??? That is the WRONG thing to do! If you
are symptomatic seek professional help immediately! .. and
demand monoclonal antibody infusion!
I’ll have whatever Bob’s having. 😉
Thumb typing?
Here is a link to the clinical trials webpage. It lists all the locations where the trials are taking place.

Ummm drugs.........
Wow, I really butcherd that post! Typing on a tablet, I hate it. Yes, basically thumb typing. Small keyboard. Gotta learn to spell check more often before hitting post
Lol that was a horrible post on my part 😅 the sad part is that I’m sotally tober 😆
This is great news. I hope this works out as a lot of people are in need of something to help them survive.
Lemme try again 😆 the blurb says that it is issued before folks bet to hospital to keep them out, used in mild to moderate cases. I think the ones you mentioned are more for cases that are moderate to severe after they have been admitted
I guess Fussy will declare it illegal to mention this.
Screw all this big pharma garbage. It’s all to make you dependent on them !
Colloidal silver kills all viruses and bacteria dead. ALL OF THEM
AND. IT FREE !
“Most “miracle “ drugs end up being pulled from the market.”
Antibodies aren’t drugs, but carry on.
Coming up with unique names in the commercial space is always a chore...mostly to keep the lawyers at bay.
I thought they used Scrabble tiles dropped from a bag.

“Doctor”, you keep posting this but I’ve never seen a single doctor mention it, including the anti-vaxxers.
It looks like they listed the word backwards. Maybe it was supposed to be “bamivortos”.
Bob: “I haven’t had a drink in months, I quite a long time ago, see? (Points to beer label stuck to face), I’m on the patch “
They’d better do their research now - find local infusion centers, call them and find out what the criteria is. Call your doc and see if he will prescribe it.
I did, hubby and I wouldn’t meet any of the criteria at any center within a 100 mike radius (I.e., too healthy) and our doc said he wouldn’t prescribe it.
No, the monoclonal infusions like Regeneron have always been for early in the infection and weren’t given after admission to the hospital. Covid is two stages - the infection stage when antibodies are helpful, and the inflammation stage when antibodies are useless (because you don’t really have the active infection anymore) when the cytokine and other inflammatory causes are damaging organs.
The infection stage, up to seven days after symptoms develop, iirc, is when monoclonal treatments are given.
The inflammation stage is when steroids, etc, are given to tamp down the inflammatory response.
