Anyone trying to keep up with the current state of medical knowledge and recommendations regarding the COVID pandemic is bound to be confused.
The data are conflicting, garbled, and inconclusive. The recommendations are constantly changing, haphazard, arbitrary, and inconsistent.
Making sense of COVID information requires more than simply studying data or following recommendations. It is useful to consider what the recommendations say about the data.
For example, the recommendation that people who have been vaccinated against COVID should receive booster shots suggests that health officials believe that the protection provided by the vaccines is not long-lasting. It is not necessary to quote the precise clinical data upon which this recommendation is based; the fact that the recommendation is made at all gives a pretty good idea of what the data show. Likewise, the recommendation that people who have been vaccinated should wear masks indicates that health officials believe that vaccination does not reliably prevent the spread of disease. In fact, it suggests that health officials are not confident that either masking or vaccination prevents the spread of the disease.
The fact that COVID mitigation recommendations consist largely of various permutations of vaccination, mask-wearing, hand-washing, six-foot distances, and little else suggests that the notion that the pandemic can be "stopped" by policy interventions is likely wishful thinking, and that the medical community does not know nearly as much about the virus as it would like, or perhaps should. The "experts" may know more than the average person about the virus, but this does not guarantee that anyone knows enough to give definitive recommendations. There is a lack of information necessary to enlist popular support for COVID health interventions, and this lack of information is not remedied by assurances of public health officials who seem to have a different story every week.

And oh yeah, about vaccination...
This lack of confidence is exacerbated by people’s own observations: many people know someone who became infected with COVID despite faithful mask observance or who was vaccinated.
Others know people who were unvaccinated and had mild cases of the disease.
These personal experiences, even though they do not support denial regarding the existence or seriousness of COVID, provoke skepticism when officials and celebrities claim that the situation is so dire that personal liberties must yield to the same public health capriciousness that has so little to show for itself.
The result is even less confidence in the public health community. The official recommendations and mandates regarding the COVID pandemic become the world’s longest-running game of Simon Says, and eventually, popular opinion treats them as such.
It started with wash your hands and 6 ft distancing OR...and I repeat...OR....a mask. Not both. And the entire population was quarantined except for necessary occupations.
Thank God they aren’t relying on 100 years of research and science regarding infectious diseases and immunology.

RE: And the entire population was quarantined except for necessary occupations.
And they’re still doing it in Australia and New Zealand.
In New Zealand because they found *ONE* ( yes ONE as in UNO ) positive case of Covid.

Very concerned as the number of times I’m seeing it in our clinic is too frequent to ignore. The last was a young woman in her 20s who is now deceased within a couple of days of the Pfizer. There is not enough transparency neither do I believe data is being collected let alone shared. A data repository is necessary but this idea of stifling information sharing is unacceptable.

So, to recap: Masks work, then don’t, then do again, so just get a vaccine and you won’t have to wear them anymore except you do, because there is a variant, as mutating is what coronaviruses do. The vaccine doesn’t stop it but you must get a vaccine too anyway to prevent vaccinated people from getting sick and to protect other folks who have chosen to live without a vaccine. In short, get vaccinated and then nothing changes anyway. Great sales pitch.
“Herd Immunity through Natural Infection and Recovery.”
I don’t think that’s going to work because this thing mutates too quickly.
It will be like influenza...never eradicated, but maintained at an acceptable level through annual vaccination tailored to the strain likely to be prevalent in any given year.
The endless lockdowns, masking, hand washing, etc are futile feel-good attempts that do nothing. The lockdowns are FAR worse than the disease.
The DEATH numbers here in Idaho are astonishing:
0-17 years - ZERO
18-29 years - 6
30-39 years - 14
40-49 - 43
50-59 - 109
So, below age 50, we’ve had 53 deaths out of 1.4 million people. For these rates we shut down the entire world?
It would be interesting to compare the under 50 covid mortality with other diseases/causes that we just sort of accept as part of life.
I’ve looked for that data and cannot find it. You can find a lot of data looking at changes in total deaths in 2020 and deaths by cause, but I cannot find it broken down by age group.
lol....,and what where those “NECESSARY” occupations??
Truck drivers where prolly 1st..,food factory workers....Grocery store employees...etc ...
PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY PRODUCE SOMETHING WITH THEIR LABOR....,
Unlike every single GOVT. EMPLOYEE THAT SUCKS TAXPAYER MONEY FROM THE SYSTEM AND PRODUCES NOTHING FOR A SALARY AND BENEFIT PACKAGE THAT THE “NECESSARY WORKERS” PAY FOR AND WOULD HAVE KILLED FOR THAT JOB THAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE BETTER...,...,LOL...,
Its obvious we all need to work for the Govt in the future...,/s
