Is REGEN-COV the answer to COVID?
Nearly a year and a half has passed and over 618,000 COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in the U.S. alone and finally the FDA released an emergency use authorization for REGEN-COV; a new drug that was undergoing testing in 2020 (pre-Biden). It is now an early treatment option for primary care physicians. Until this point, the only authorized COVID-19 treatment my family doctor had per the July 2021 update to NIH guidelines was recommend quarantine, wait until symptoms go away or report to a hospital if they get worse. It is noteworthy that these updated guidelines continue to name hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) as a prohibited drug, but should be no surprise considering a war on HCQ began soon after President Trump dared to recommend it.
However, REGEN-COV is no simple take-home medicine like the familiar Tamiflu frequently prescribed for the seasonal flu. For example, (in the ‘old days’ that ended in March 2020), my wife and I both caught the seasonal flu. Our doctor immediately prescribed Tamiflu and azithromycin because he knew a delay of even a few days would make Tamiflu less effective. REGEN-COV is similarly recommended only for early use before severe symptoms can develop.
Once the initial surge of COVID-19 cases and deaths started in March-April 2020, the seasonal flu magically vanished along with Tamiflu despite some early indications that it works on COVID.
According to the FDA fact sheet on REGEN-COV, the intravenous infusion process it requires appears time-consuming (can take 20 to 50 minutes or more with a one-hour monitoring period immediately after).

Probably didnt take enough. Kory has recently upped the dosage
There is some leeway in the people who qualify. You have to press to try to find a way in...like high blood pressue or fat, or something that comprises your immune system.
A good portion of the public have high blood pressure and that is enough in some states, IIRC.
Nailed it. High blood pressure.
I’m on Losartan and my blood pressure is normal. Has been for years. But having Covid obviously elevated my B/P and based on that - I qualified for the infusion.
I have to wonder. How many hundreds of thousands of “healthy” people have died simply because they didn’t qualify for a MAB?
Along these lines, went in for the Shingrix and talked to my doc about “what ifs”.
Plan A is Regeneron. Like almost anyone over 60, my BP isn’t what it used to be, and I did have asthma as a kid, so he thinks that should be enough to qualify me if/when I come down with the CCP Crud.
Plan B is the FLCCC early treatment. (Ivermectin and Fluvoxamine plus the “nutraceuticals”, along with pulse ox monitoring.)
All of which is fine for the seasoned citizens, but I lost an acquaintance last year to the ‘Rona who was early 40’s, no comorbidities who would definitely not have qualified under the current guidelines, so for the younger crowd the FLCCC might have to serve as the best available plan A.
Did he talk to you about the different between infusion and shot. I found a pharmacy after talking to Eli Lilly that is doing the Regeneron shot.
Eli Lilly has been forced out of the biz because of the brazilian variant. It’s ludicrous since Delta is the one that is surging.
We discussed that, but the best intel that he had at the time, which was last week, was that there’s good availability of the Regeron infusion in southern California, so that was most likely to be the quickest. His advice is to not let any moss grow under my feet, which was not a tough sell. One downside is that a positive test is still required, so that delays things a day or two.
According to him, he’s still able to order the Lilly MABs, but that would his second choice behind the Regeneron. There are plenty of infusion centers in our area, so I’m pretty sure that it would not be unduly burdensome, in my case.
Thanks for that info.
Her doc recommended Ivermectin but She is hesitant, bad reactions to a lot of medications and auto immune serious problems.
So far, she’s mostly feeling headaches, fever, all over aches an pains. So for now, she’s not trying Ivermectin. Hopefully, the Regeneron has done the trick.
I agree. I think it is working. She just had it 2 days ago and she hasn’t gotten any worse.
Ivermectin work vs the virus cells/ spike proteins.
Sadly it is possible a person taking ivermectin ( only) died not because of the virus but a related effect, such as cytokine storm or septic infection.
Where ivermectin seems to work, is where ridding the body of the virus enables it to recover. Early. Though it has helped even late stages. HCQ on the other hand is most effective only when used early, first 5 days.
Where damage is done, or where comorbidities become overwhelming ( like heart damage, clotting, cancer etc) then ivermectin is not a cure…esp after the first days when the virus has started multiplying. Every person is different.
Dr zelenko survived covid even with metastatic cancer and only 1 lung. His protocol did not prevent infection but may have lessened the severity.
Its not the solution for everyone.
A freeper died after using it while trying to get an infusion
Dr ben marble from myfreedoctor.com gobbled all your pills on video and still needed an infusion to live.
You only have a short time to get the infusion.
In that 10 day window you have to make a decision. If you rely on ivermectin..have no other plan... And on day 6 your body tries to kill you and you panic and try to start to get the infusion..the red tape delay may cost you your life.
^^^ this!!
IMO everyone who has been exposed should get the monoclonal antibody infusion ASAP. Everyone who gets it says it’s a miraculous turning point in how they feel and how they do with COVID. Trump got it and returned to the White House in a day or two. Everyone I’ve known or heard of who got it says the same thing.
The list of items below MAY or MAY NOT be helpful. Some have had good results with them, and others haven’t. But essentially everyone has had good results with regeneron… and why not? It’s basically made from the natural antibodies of people who have already beaten COVID and survived to tell the story.
What is Gov. Desantis doing all over FL right now to keep people out of the hospitals? he’s opening more antibody infusion centers.
PLEASE, people, you are too valuable to the cause, we don’t want to lose you to the ignorance or stubbornness of waiting one day too long and then asking for the antibodies when you are already being admitted to the hospital. Ask EARLY, as soon as you know you have been exposed or you start to have symptoms. It’s worth the cost of a doctor call/visit. We need you.
Ok thanks for feedback. My best for her quick recovery.
Ok, so my daughter started Ivermectin last night. Her text to me this morning said, “It’s a gamechanger”.
