The body of an Afghan so desperate to escape the country hours after Kabul fell to the Taliban was found in the landing gear of an American C-17 transport aircraft hours after it hastily took off from Hamid Karzai International Airport, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
The body in the aircraft’s landing gear has made it temporarily inoperable, the sources said.
The U.S. resumed operations out of the airport late Monday, allowing C-17s carrying Marines and soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division to land in the country, according to Maj. Gen. Hank Taylor, the Joint Staff’s deputy director for regional operations and force management.
Earlier in the day, U.S. forces responded to “hostile threats” after gunfire broke out in two separate incidents, resulting in the deaths of two gunmen, Kirby confirmed. One U.S. service member was injured during the incident, he said, but could not confirm the individual’s status late Monday.

There seems to be an IQ problem in that country.
Roadkill
US forces have got to secure those areas, so to prevent injuries or worse to US aircrews.
You had some falling off at hundreds of feet.
I recall this happening on international commercial flights a few times back in the 80’s.
There’s a tweet with maybe 10 second of his lower torso and legs flapping in the wind at altitude in midair.
We should place that around Biden’s political neck with the same smug confidence that 0moeba placed that medal around his neck.
It should be the icon for a generation.
Biden’s utter failure.
It’s what happens when you sleep with your sister or first cousin.
A virtual Afghan rug...
Yeah idiot military pilots running over civilians. They were just following orders though.
Really unbelievable what a cluster**** this is. How difficult would it have been to say we are drawing down our forces. When we leave we haven’t decided yet, but it will happen. We have a procedure if you wish to leave the country if you are American or part of the western group of people and have visas, etc. We suggest you leave now as the timeline of our complete withdrawal will not be announced.
If you are Afghan interpreters or others that have worked closely with the USA there is a procedure for that as well. If you are part of the Afghan military the weapons we have left and the training you received will leave you capable to fight the Taliban after we are gone.
Then you spend 2 to 4 months or whatever while we still have our military bases and airpower to protect us, have our military troops and police to keep an orderly process while our people leave the country.
I am shocked to hear that we have 10,000+ Americans still in Afghanistan. And now with the airport shut down - that’s a lot of Toyotas to try to get across the border.
And the planes taking off among the crowd, reminds me of cars trying to get out of a mob of BLM protestors attacking them. I’m just glad those planes didn’t suck somebody into an engine and crash on take off.
That’s a pilot’s weight and balance nightmare. Where’s the duct tape?
Who gets to hose that out?
Pray for those heroes.
Yeah, the problem was the C-17 pilots. That’s a thing a coward says from far Y.
The same thing happened during the evacuation of Saigon.
They were saying that the planes are only suppose to hold 150 soldiers. Former pilots said today they weren’t sure if they would have been brave enough to go down that runway with the hoards of people on it. Plane took off with 640 people.
Surprised our soldiers didn’t use tear gas to keep the hoards from the ramp.
Biggest mistake closing Bagrum where they had multiple runways and fuel. Now the C-7’S HAVE to fuel mid-air is what I heard this morning.

Some would rather risk death than have to live under tyranny. I believe that’s what we call freedom.
Hose off the landing gear and put the aircraft back in service.
