Rick Stengel, the former Time editor turned Obama State Department flack turned MSNBC analyst, appearing on Nicolle Wallace's show this afternoon and defending Biden on the Afghanistan fiasco, said:

Well...iirc, and I do, Trump was also going to pull our troops out. I would have rather it happen under him anyway because it would not have been done 'stupidly' i.e. leaving equipment and other assets. In any case, we've been there long enough! We've lost countless lives not to mention the men (and women?) who are now maimed for life.
Screw the middle-east. Let the animals kill each other. Better yet, let Israel take care of them. I'm sick of our finest losing their lives over a shithole.
We should have turned the sand to glass on 09/12/2001. Instead, we had a President who hem hawed around and then sent troops over there but forgot to devise an exit strategy!

Apparently any history course that shows up on this guy’s scholastic record totally ignored the stories of the colonial empires gone to ruin by wasting treasure on Afghanistan. The US is just the latest chapter in that book.
