(I’ve never posted anything before- if I am doing this all wrong please private email me and explain) On 8/3 at 9:49pm I posted a reply on TexasGurl24’s post about “FDA Aims for Full Approval of Pfizer Covid19 vaccination by Labor Day” expressing my frustration that soon we will have no right to work unless vaccinated, concerns about vaccine safety and efficacy and once approved we lose most, if not all, ability to defend against an employer mandate. Now I get private businesses/employers right to conduct business way they want- you don’t have to work there, etc (unless said employer or business is being asked to bake a cake for a situation they disagree with on moral religious grounds 😉). But if both public AND private businesses can mandate what I must do to my body, then essentially if I disagree with, or are afraid of, or think vaccine is harmful or want to‘wait and see’,there is no right to work in the country because no employer left, unless have own business and the left is quickly making that impossible as well. Myself and a family member who are older but nowhere near SS retirement age yet, are currently at risk of losing our retirement and employment unless we comply with employer mandate to get a Covid vaccine. I despaired in post of how bleak and hopeless future is particularly for our age. (Anyway etc etc, see the post). SOoooo I’ve been thinking: I wonder if there is any way to create a CRIMINAL offense ? The value of the retirement we will lose is significant and the entire mandate I consider coercion and a threat-and if you can’t grope me at work why is ok to assault me with a needle? I don’t know- I just wonder how to find an attorney who is interested in defending against the mandates to determine if a criminal offense is possible- it’s definitely a threat (job loss and to my physical and mental health) and seems like coercion if money involved (loss of retirement) ?? It might just keep options open long enough to buy us all some time if this was a reasonable logical legal ball to get rolling??? Any thoughts??

(My situation, just to give an example—I had two great skills throughout my life. I am an excellent and confident public speaker, and I was great at financial analysis/crunching numbers. It turns out there are not a lot of folks that have those two skills together, and once I focused on working in an area that required both of them everything fell into place for me.)
While I’m not a believer in great conspiracies, neither am I a believer in great coincidences ...

sorry if this is too blunt, but at this point we’re at the point of no return. if they make this forced vaccine thing stick. we’re done. period.
so, it’s not really an option for me. as the Great Ben Franklin is reputed to have said. “Resistance to evil, is obedience to God.”
we have done everything they said to this point, worn masks, distanced, etc. but this is a bridge too far for me. you have to decide what your bridge too far is.
at this point, even if the vaccine was “safe and effective and well tested,” and it’s neither of course, i wouldn’t take it on principle now because it would enable evil to enslave good and that my friend, is my hill to die on. i can’t enable enslavement of my brothers and sisters with this forced vaccine. and that is exactly what evil is counting on, that enough of us will buy the comfy couch and the easy retirement in slavery.
As Ben also said, those who value security over liberty, will have neither.
I am not a lawyer so don’t rely on my legal reasoning here, but I am not sure specifically in this case that a company can require you to get this vaccine even after it is approved. Even with at will employment there must be limits on what an employer can fire you for. For instance could he require you to stand on your head every evening for ten minutes? Could he fire you for voting the “wrong way “ or not voting at all. I’d like to see the case law.
If we grant that an employer cannot fire you for things that do not affect your performance or the firms reputation or the companies needs i.e. your job is redundant then we have to see what grounds the employer is using.
The obvious answer is the unvaxxed employee poses a threat to customers and fellow employees. That however raises the question of not only does he pose a threat but does he pose a greater threat than a fully vaccinated employee and that might be harder to prove than at first appears. The Delta variant looks to be avoiding this vaccine at a very high rate. If the vaxxed spread covid too can you treat the unvaxxed employee differently and fire him? I don’t know.

I am trying to focus on the big picture—the original poster needs (at a minimum) a fallback position (a new job, career) if he does not want to get the jab under duress.
That type of change is very stressful, but there are tricks to help make it happen.
A while back a friend asked, “How have you been doing during the Covid?”
To which I answered, “I chose not to participate.”

Make sure you get it on record somehow that they will fire you for refusing the shot.
Get it in writing as many different ways as possible.
Then whatever you do, DON’T QUIT!... make sure you get fired for not taking the shot.
THEN take them to court.
They will have to prove the impossible.

Well Milt, I’ll tell ya...
The rona didn’t change my lifestyle at all.
I rarely go anywhere besides the grocery store and I never eat out.
I don’t like most people so I do do social activities.
And am perfectly happy in isolation.
Actually, I was going to subcontract out that. I’ve got a great handyman there, and he’s gotta eat too!
ChinaMart is doing fine while smaller businesses wither and die; have you ever been anywhere more crowded than a ChinaMart?
