After defeating the Axis nations, Brokaw’s “greatest generation” returned home and gave birth to one of the sorriest generations ever produced, the so-called baby boomers. I am a baby boomer, and I take no pleasure in admitting that we are one decadent, whining, and spoiled group of malcontents.

“The 1776 Generation was the Greatest.”

I agree. Close second was the 1860 generation

To be clear I am not with we on this one. Very content, went to work every day, yes I did drink beer in my hot tub at night so I suppose a bit decadent. Dad only made us start working at around age 8 when we started mowing yards, Mom was picking cotton at 3 so in that light we were spoiled I suppose.

I never understood this fixation on "The Greatest Generation."

Most of the social ills and cultural rot in this country can be traced to policies that were put in place before the "Baby Boomers" were even old enough to vote.

Many young American men left our land and culture for a few years.

They left at a time when a young man develops much of who he is.

They spent years in a culture of discipline, death and fear.

They came to believe that freedom and booze and sex and escapism were what was important.

I used to have hope for the Millennials, being brought up in the Information Age, having so many technological advances, and so much history, to assist them.

Then I found out they watch animated porn.

I believe it was Lew Rockwell who dubbed the WWII generation the Statist Generation because they gave us a lot of Big Government—the New Deal, the Fair Deal, Eisenhower’s “Modern Republicans” (known today as RINOs), the New Frontier, the Great Society, etc.

The World Wars the US getting entangled in a global system that was originally the British Empire’s to take the mantle and continue it is sad.

World War One the original sin and World War Two a byproduct of it that the USA was forced to fight in it we had no choice.

A generation of people thrown into a conflict they had to get into and lets not hate or disparage but respect the sacrifices they made up to and including the ultimate one.

But “war is hell” aa General Sherman said and its hell all around for family members left behind working in war factories and so on.

Family life totally disputed for millions and the seeds of more destruction of family life planted by World War Two.

Fact is, a lot of people looked at Hitler with envy at the time, thinking that Fascism was the way to go, just without the racist aspect of it.

Yes, I’m one of those that thinks we would have better off had Britain, and consequently, the US stayed out of WWI. So what if the Germans beat France, what was so great about France, anyway? Britain should have had a “Brexit” in 1914, and stayed out of the Continent, and just tended to their empire.
