Vegas workers will put masks back on, but tourists (and residents) won't have to under new rules

Workers in Las Vegas and other parts of Clark County, Nevada, will have to resume wearing masks indoors but customers will not under new rules. The Clark County Commission voted Tuesday in an emergency meeting to require face coverings for all employees working indoors and around co-workers or members of the public in an increase in Covid cases driven by a more transmissible variant and a slowing vaccination rate.

The virus was morphed into a variant that only infects casino workers.

I wonder then, will they allow people to play poker with masks on? Talk about a Poker Face.

The ignorance, the stupidity and, especially, the cowardice of so many tens of million American women and "men" is truly incredible ... unbelievably digusting, too.

They know who’s bringing the money in. Political mandates with reduced economic impact.

Our much maligned gov sissypants proves once again just why he’s maligned. But the same subjugated muZZLED voters will probably send him back to Carson City for a second term. The rest of the state (not counting Reno/Washoe county), TFB. Sad. πŸ˜²πŸ’‰πŸ˜·πŸ‚πŸ’¨

Arbitrary rules need to be tossed because if they can pull these clearly useless stunts, they can go even further.

Some restaurants are banning masks for both customers and staff. Who would dine in a place so dangerous that it required protective gear? It's like having a punch bowl toilet that's brand new and hasn't been installed yet. Fun for the frat house but definitely not for a restaurant.

For a while I spent over ten hours a day masked up inside a building. It is disgusting to re-breath dirty air, gasp for clean air all while doing physical labor of any kind. Imagine your kids sitting in these government schools under the same mask slavery.

Yes, mask mandates are for social control rather than actual prevention of Covid transmission. See below for an actual study showing how ineffective they are in preventing spread of the virus, which is smaller than the openings on the masks (one poster had this great analogy: Masks are like using chicken wire to keep out mosquitos):

Our study has implications for respiratory virus mitigation. Public health measures should ethically promote behaviors that prevent communicable diseases. The sudden onset of COVID-19 compelled adoption of mask mandates before efficacy could be evaluated. Our findings do not support the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 transmission rates decrease with greater public mask use. As masks are required in public in many US states, it is prudent to weigh potential benefits with harms. Masks may promote social cohesion as rallying symbols during a pandemic [31], but risk compensation can also occur [32].

Prolonged mask use (>4 hours per day) promotes facial alkalinization and inadvertently encourages dehydration, which in turn can enhance barrier breakdown and bacterial infection risk [33]. British clinicians have reported masks to increase headaches and sweating and decrease cognitive precision [34]. Survey bias notwithstanding, these sequelae are associated with medical errors [35]. By obscuring nonverbal communication, masks interfere with social learning in children [36]. Likewise, masks can distort verbal speech and remove visual cues to the detriment of individuals with hearing loss; clear face-shields improve visual integration, but there is a corresponding loss of sound quality [37, 38]. Future research is necessary to better understand the risks of long-term daily mask use [30]. Conversely, it is appropriate to emphasize interventions with demonstrated or probable efficacy against COVID-19 such as vaccination [39] and Vitamin D repletion [40].

Mask mandate and use efficacy in state-level COVID-19 containment

Well, everybody knows only casino workers can get or give the virus. And then only to each other.

Right?

They are going to keep this going for as long as people blindly obey them. These people are prolonging this.
