Drew Hammill, a top aide to Pelosi, said the unidentified staff member was fully vaccinated and did not have recent contact with the top California Democrat, though the speaker's office is taking extra precautions as a result.
"Yesterday, a fully vaccinated senior spokesperson in the speaker’s press office tested positive for COVID after contact with members of the Texas state legislature last week," Hammill said in a statement obtained by Fox News.
"This individual has had no contact with the speaker since exposure. The entire press office is working remotely today with the exception of individuals who have had no exposure to the individual or have had a recent negative test. Our office will continue to follow the guidance of the Office of Attending Physician closely."
On Tuesday, Pelosi and her staff were spotted wearing masks again at the Capitol. Following a loosening of mask restrictions by the Capitol physician, many members have opted against masks in recent weeks.
Asked about her covid-positive staffer Tuesday, Pelosi said: "I'm sorry he has it. All the more reason for all of us to be vaccinated as he was. Wear a mask. Take every precaution."

They keep using those words, but they mean something completely different to them than what they should mean.
“fully vaccinated” to the estaishment means that a person has a card with some stickers and writing on it. It’s a function of paperwork, not of any intrensic biological or medical value. Sure, the card represents that you had one of several injections to protect against a disease, but it appears that different injections have different capacities to protect against the disease (if you don’t want to point fingers at astra zenica, you can use the Russian and Chinese vaccines to see that proof), and the idea of natural immunity after recovering from the disease isn’t captured on any paperwork, so the value isn’t in the protection, but in the paperwork.
We’re measuring the wrong things. The ability for people in America to fend off disease by collecting a piece of paper with stickers on it is cargo cult thinking.

I believe the animal tests of other mRNA vaccines indicated the recipe was kind of touchy. Too weak and it was ineffective (breakthrough cases); too strong and it triggered a cytokine storm. It seems to me ridiculous that one size dose fits all. I prefer to wait until the porridge is just right before I even consider getting a vaccine. I’m not antivaxx and have most of the recommended ones (not shingles or flu vaccines) and I am blessed with a fairly strong natural immune system. As many engineers say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
I am really getting worn out by this constant barrage of “positive COVID” tests. So someone test positive just what the hell does that mean? Are they going to die, like the COVIDians would have you believe or what is the result of a positive test.
They sat around in a room discussing how to market this pig, and decided: "Hey, let's say that they're 95% effective." The other weasels around the table smiled and nodded their heads in agreement.
