6 minute clip from a Newhart episode.
I've been laughing all day from this.
“Bob Newhart’s screen persona is that of a hesitant, somewhat confused man.”
I think it was when Newhart was on Craig Ferguson and he talked about that.
“It’s not a stutter - it’s a stammer. I was asked once to say my lines without the stammer. I told them “I could - but why would I? I own three homes because of it!”
The last episode of Ferguson’s late night show honors Bob Newhart and has a surprise at the end.

Oh, okay. Thanks. Somehow I missed Newhart on this show and this show itself.
I thought it was the Newhart show itself because Newhart is always, well, so Newhart.
I may have to binge watch Newhart stuff this weekend and perhaps MAD TV.
‘In Living Color’ was the show this ‘Stop It’ sketch is from. Or so I was told. ;)
Occassionally MAD TV would have outsiders appear, I remember they had Carlin for their spoof of “Touched By An Angel”....”Touched By An Atheist”.
I cry every time she dies in Hitchcock’s, ‘The Birds.’ :(
Suzanne was lovely. Every time I catch ‘The Bob Newhart Show’ I think, ‘No wonder Bob is always so happy to get home each day!’
Last line in the final episode of, ‘Newhart:’
“Emily? You really should wear more sweaters.”
We should all write Bob a letter to tell him how much he’s meant to us, before it’s too late!
