Thailand starts tighter coronavirus lockdown around Bangkok

BANGKOK: More than 10 million people were placed under fresh COVID-19 restrictions and a curfew in the Thai capital Monday (Jul 12), as the country battled a surge of cases worsened by the highly infectious Alpha and Delta variants. Thailand has so far recorded more than 345,000 cases and 2,791 deaths - with the bulk of them coming in this latest wave that started in April. First detected in clubs frequented by the Thai elite and politicians at an upscale Bangkok nightlife district, the surge has been exacerbated by a slow vaccine rollout and limited testing capacity. "The situation is worrying," said Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. "We have a big toll of new confirmed cases and the Delta strain has spread to other provinces that are home to factories." Health authorities also said they are monitoring seven people who have contracted both the Alpha and Delta variants, which were first detected in the UK and India respectively.

The world has had more than a year to build healthcare facilities and train caregivers to deal with any “surge” of the China Virus.

If there is any nation which has not, it can only be concluded that the government there wants these lockdowns to continue for its own (most likely nefarious) purposes.

Lockdowns only kill the economy, ineffective against virus.

Psst. News flash, lockdowns don’t work, never have, never will.

Not everybody at one given time, is sick. Not everybody will contract the disease. The disease, for most demographics, is self-limiting, and recovery confers some kind of immunity to reinfections. Even the widely touted masks are not particularly helpful, sometimes engendering an even worse outcome from their use, than going maskless altogether could ever adversely affect the individual.

Open air and sunlight are natural disinfectants, and in their absence, judicious use of UV-C lights and ozone generators do a very efficient job of destroying ALL airborne pathogens, including COVID-19 Wuhan virus particles.

And there are effective treatments, involving dietary zinc (as the Zn++ ion) and an ionophore like hydroxychloroquine or quercetin, or a parallel treatment involving the use of ivermectin. These treatments stop the virus particle from replicating, and the body’s own immune system can make the necessary antibodies.

Thailand is a mess with a corrupt and incompetent government.

They relied on the Chinese for vaccines and they have weak protection from the Wuhan virus.

Now, because their corrupt gov’t officials brought the other variants from their sexcapades overseas back home, the people will be made to suffer.

I have to admit I was so grateful Ohio classified ‘pet care’ as an essential service. It kept me and my crew walking and outside in the sun for a good 9 months.

Thailand people are ok with the corruption. It's part of their culture. Everybody knows somebody that can make things happen for a gift, which in everyday life is usually some food.

They are not rebellious like Americans. If the government told them to wear 3 masks at a time, even when alone in their car, most of them would follow orders.

Thai people usually act very civilized in public. If you drop your wallet, you will probably get it back. Outside of tomboys, women trying to act like men is rare.

Very few people have been vaccinated due to a series of poor bets by the government, trying to go cheap. It will be 6 more months before the good vaccines are widely available. Their economy is now destroyed because of it, and continues to get worse. The government is now clamping down hard on "fake news", meaning news that embarrasses the government.

The corrupt and incompetent Biden administration would love for the American people to be as compliant, but that's not in American genetics, a country founded by rebels, heavily armed and distrustful of government. Further, the Democrats constant turning neighbor against neighbor, black against white, women against men, young against old, poor against rich, insures their plan is doomed to failure. They've got just about everybody Kung Fu fighting.
