Two weeks ago, we were playing golf and thunder cracked right over us. Didn’t see the lightening. We called it a day right then.

It wasn’t real smart to be hitting golf balls at a driving range under those stormy conditions.

Hahaha...I was teaching a bunch of residents earlier this week, and in an attempt to make a humorous point, I said “Did you ever see the movie “Caddyshack”?
And they all looked at me blankly shaking their heads from side to side...
One of the first times I felt...old!
Reminded me of the time a physician teaching me asked if I had ever seen one of the Marx Brothers movies, and I shook my head blankly from side to side...:)

I would have to wait out that storm and pay whatever to get. that. ball.
Think about it, you have to golf balls on your mantle -- one is your first hole-in-one, and the second is the drive hit by lightning.
The odds of a hole-in-one for average weekend duffer, probably 10,000-1. Odds of being struck by lightning (if you live in an area that experiences average lightning yearly) are 500,000-1. Figure the golf ball x1000 those latter odds, given the fractional number of golfers (course and range) stupid enough to play during a lightning storm.

At the end of a code a few years ago the ICU charge came up and said the patient qualified for the massive transfusion protocol. I replied “make it so number 1”’and just got a blank stare. I then said “engage”. got an even blanket stare. I actually had to say ok initiate protocol as I felt older than dirt…..
