Three Hard Facts That Doom Woke Public Schooling
American Thinker ^ | 9 Jul, 2021 | Lewis M. Andrews

Posted on 07/09/2021 3:04:19 AM PDT by MtnClimber

The growing numbers of American parents going up against woke educators and their school board allies are performing an important -- indeed, historic -- service to their country. Future generations will applaud their efforts to prevent color shaming, to promote academic achievement, and to preserve an accurate retelling of history. Ever since Horace Mann established the first state department of education in Massachusetts, the widely accepted purpose of publicly funded schooling has been to nurture confident, capable, and knowledgeable citizens.

Not that the fight to maintain this laudable tradition has been easy. For their willingness to oppose far-left ideologues, many parents have endured accusations of racism, teacher harassment of their children, and even the threat of lawsuits. Yet “woke” curricula are fated to prove increasingly unpopular as its advocates are forced to confront three hard facts.

First, virtually all the research used to justify the teaching of Critical Race Theory, when closely examined, falls clearly into the category of junk science. Education studies in general are notoriously biased by political prejudice, teacher union economic priorities, and poor controls -- more than half cannot even be replicated by independent experts, according to Stanford University’s Meta-Research Innovation Center -- but those that claim some value for woke schooling are especially unreliable.

>>And when asked how the federal government should spend the $190 billion allocated for K-12 education in the various COVID stimulus packages, 66% of black voters — again, more than any other demographic group – said it should be used to advance school choice.<<

The federal govt has NO BUSINESS getting involved in education. At any level.

The communist left has too much evil intent to be trusted with educating future generations.

All about promoting a new Black Master Race. See all your TV commercials, no Black is ever sick in the cancer drug commercial. No black is ever poor, has bad credit, or is put in a position to look silly, foolish, or stupid. Black music is the best, kinky black hair is the most beautiful, black skin is luxuriant and the epitome of beauty while white skin is inherently evil and pasty. Black movie stars deserve special Oscars over inferior artists. Blacks should be allowed to steal from you, beat you, and destroy your property. Black women are to be known as queens. Black students should receive copious grants and scholarships regardless of merit over other groups. Black business needs special help from the state. Blacks need a special justice system that allows for theft, rape, and murder ..with extenuating circumstances.

Substitute Aryan for Black in my above statements and this has a nasty 1933 ring to it, doesn't it?

How can public schools ever be doomed when we are forced under the threat of the government gun to pay property taxes and continue to fund these horrible schools?

“How can public schools ever be doomed when we are forced under the threat of the government gun to pay property taxes and continue to fund these horrible schools?”

CORRECT. As long as government continues to fund them, in their present form, they will NEVER go away.

It’s really that simple.

It's a not just a supply problem but a DEMAND problem.

With the phrase in loco parentis (in place of the parents), the courts (and society) have granted public schools, teacher, and admistrators broad powers over the kids. In essence, the schools can't please everyone so you get a general application of the three Rs AND ethics that reflects that of society as a whole...or the political leaning of the local and/or state school administrators.

Decades ago, corporal punishment was acceptable in public schools. Now it's not. Today, unAmerican history is acceptable. If you don't like it, it's not necessarily the school's fault - it's all because society granted the school the power to stand in place of the parents. What's "in style" changes with the times, but the fundamentals of in loco parentis remain unchanged.

I will happily bash schools for their stupid actions. But the parents, in many ways, are codependent enablers. They're feeding the beast; if they knew the deal maybe they'd bolt, but there are plentry of parents who sort of don't care because "well, at least the kids are getting socialization" (like the foul-mouthed defendant in a recent SCOTUS ruling...I bet her parents are proud of what they've raised).

And if I'm honest, many teachers go into the system not knowing that they're pawns because even THEY don't have much power to help the kids....that's why so many of them burn out. In turn, there are also plenty of detestable teachers who are totally fine with what's "in style" and THRIVE with their power and protection that comes with the job.

If you want to gut the schools, pull your kids out and either homeschool them or put them in a private school (where, in some way, you may have LESS rights...beware). That will contract the demand for public schools, and it'll be harder to support property tax rates.

Until then, parents are sort of part of the problem.

It’s an insult to any people who want their children to get an education and improve their lot in life.

It’s a payday for those bureaucrats who want to leech off the government

Well, they can promote it all they want but I do not think the Chosen Few are up to the task.

We're not even close to Mission Accomplished here. We have about .00000001% of parents standing up and the unions are just starting to fight back. I do not have significant faith in the "parents" to follow this through and grow the numbers needed to fight this back and declare victory. I guess I'm negative Nellie here, or a realist.

“ the widely accepted purpose of publicly funded schooling has been to nurture confident, capable, and knowledgeable citizens.”

Dog squeeze. It’s intention from the start was not to educate, but to produce compliant workers. They have simply shifted to racial indoctrination in order to weaken White Americans who stand in the way of the globalist “great reset”.
