AN "EMERGENCY" at Newark Airport sparked an evacuation with passengers reportedly being seen screaming and running from the buildings.
Reports initially emerged that Terminal C was evacuated just after 10.30am, however 30 minutes later the airport was up-and-running as normal.
One person has been taken into custody following a security breach at the airport.
The airport quickly took to Twitter to confirm that the incident was "under control" adding that a customer had exited through a security door.
It is unclear whether the incident was a mistake or whether it was intentional.

Many years ago Newark was a good choice to avoid Kennedy or Laguardia—but it went downhill in a hurry—crowded, confusing, dirty, awful amenities...
The worst was I got out of a cab a EWR it was mid-April, it was a warm spring day, as soon as I stepped in the door to the terminal it was like getting slapped in the face, the A/C was out and it was incredibly hot inside the terminal, I asked a bartender what the deal was, the reason the A/C wasn’t running is because the Airport refused to fire up the A/C before May 1, people were on the verge of passing out from the heat...
After Jet Blue took over the TWA terminal at JFK and completely overhauled it, that was actually nice and I had no issue flying thru JFK...

I heard they were upgrading it one terminal at a time. I have not been there for about 6 years so it is possible.
But the only way to fix EWR is to nuke it from space.
I will say this - when I was going through there the view of the Freedom Tower (which means back when the WTC) is crystal clear. 9/11 must have been surreal.

I have flown thru EWR so many times I can’t remember how many, it’s by far the worst airport in the USA, it’s not fitting of a 3rd world country total hell hole....
It seemed like every time I traveled thru there something major was broken, the tram was down, the escalators were broken, the A/C was down even though it was over 90m inside the terminal....etc....
By the late 1960’s to the 1970’s it was the worst airport to fly into or out of.
It reminds me of when the Metrodome roof started to collapse. Grown men pushing women and children out of the way to get out.

I’m not defending Newark, but obviously you have never flown out of LaGuardia.
The LGA terminals have been upgraded and they are fine. One (big) problem with LGA is the TWO separate buses needed to get to the rental cars.
I’ve flown thru all 3 NYC airports a minimum of 10 times each and I stand by my assertion that EWR is the worst airport in the USA
